Just had my Volks road-forced balanced and I'm getting some vibrations 70mph+. They said I need an alignment because my car sways to the right, so would getting an alignment help the vibration issue? I wanted to drop first before I actually got an alignment though...

I also read hub-rings can help with aftermarket wheels.. but I thought that was only for spacers???

Does alignment issues cause vibration in the steering wheel as well? Let me know someone... lol thanks

 

It shouldn't vibrate even with a bad alignment. Usually it's the wheel/tires cause vibrations. With Volks you don't need hub rings but worth a try.

Well I didn't get the alignment yet, but the shop said I should get one because my car pulls to one side, so maybe this is the cause of the vibration or he said the uneven thread wear might be the cause so maybe I should get new front tiress. They seem fine though, it's not that bad like some people have uneven thread wear sooooo... I think it may have something to do with how my car isn't aligned right now =/

 

If you're pulling to one side you probably need an alignment. I run hub rings in my Volks... I also just added 10mm front spacers and 5mm rear spacers and still no vibration at high speeds.

 

Actually, you do need the hub rings I believe...cause I've got hub rings on my GT30s

 

Did they come with the GT-30's or did you buy them separate

 

I bought my wheels used from another user on the forums and he sent his hub rings with the wheels. Eitherway you'd have to order the set of hub rings. I think the inner diameter should be 66.1mm and outer diameter 73.1mm. Correct me if I'm wrong though...

I'm starting to think those Volks are cursed man.

Anyways, other reasons for vibration is bent wheels or warped tires. My brother had the same problem when he hits 60 mph. I hope it's not because you took your Volks apart.

Yup, same here. I always run my hub rings with and without spacers. Bought my wheels used and they came with the hub rings so I use them. I bought some extra rings from Lou @ Amplified because I ruined one once and bent it. Don't know what the exact size is, but if you hit up Lou just tell him there for Volks and he can get them for you.

 

Vibrations = something is out of balance

Pulling = you need an alignment and/or your tire pressures are very uneven.


Hub rings are absolutely NOT necessary.

 

go somewhere and get an alignment for 90 bux, have them check the tires to make sure they are balanced. Even if you get springs you want to wait a little bit to let them settle before u get an alignment. So just spend the 90 bux now, and then again a couple weeks down the road after your springs are on fur 2 or 3 weeks
