New Years Horror story. Airbgas deployed after changing car radio

I have a 2011 G37x Sedan Automatic

I tried adding a GROM VLINE navigation system to my car and I made the rookie mistake of having the car engine still running. Half way thru the easy plug and play install all my airbags started deploying one at time within 5 seconds of each other. This is actually not the main problem I am having. The real problem begins when I realized My car also wouldnt turn off. In order to get the engine to shut off I had to disconnect the battery and Air Flow sensor which caused the engine to die out.

Now I cant get the car to start anymore. The I plugged the radio back to how it was left. Screwed everything back back where it was. and now the car wont start. Radio still works like before but the car makes a beeping sound when I step into. Same sound it would make when I would leave the keys in the car normally.

I think I may have fried the BCM or ECU.

I just want my car to start again. What do you guys think?

I made a YouTube video explaining the issue if it helps

Damn. I wish I was able to provide you with some assistance on this, but I've never seen this happen before. I'll be following your thread. I hope someone will be able to step in soon to help you. I am glad to read that you weren't injured when this happened - this sounds like it could have been disastrous. All the best and again I am glad that you're okay.

Not going to beat you up about making a rookie mistake... but even if you figure out what is wrong, that is going to be a very COSTLY mistake to repair. New airbags, dashboard, trim pieces, hell the seats alone, plus the many unknown variables...

About the only thing I can suggest is for you to check (pull & inspect) every single fuse in all three fuse blocks- especially the BAT and IGN fuses in the left foot panel. But, check them all! The car is semi- responsive so just maybe it is a simple fuse issue.

This is going to be a tough one to diagnose and repair. I am sure most of us here feel your frustration. Unfortunately, this might be a case for a qualified shop to handle.

Please, keep us updated.

Infiniti really discourages running the car with the battery disconnected for fear of harming the ecu. I'd find a rear smashed G on copart or somewhere and replace everything even bcm ecu. You can use Nissan datascan 3 with a odb cable to reprogram keys.

Man, that sucks. I hope you didn't suffer any hearing damage. Some airbags sound like a shotgun blast when they deploy.

Do you have to replace the air bags? Was any of the trim damaged when they deployed?

Whoa! Having had an airbag hit me in the face once in a collision, I’m glad none of them hit you while you were in the car. It ain’t fun, that’s for sure!

Now..., I’m pretty sure you might as well start shopping for a replacement. Sounds like a PITA to straighten out.

Horror story, indeed. Best case scenario is with the airbags deployed, the ECM or BCM may not be blown, but may recognize there's been an accident and cut off electrical power to prevent the fuel flow to the engine and prevent a fire. As others have said, this will be a costly rookie mistake and one to be learned from. Good luck.

If the airbags went off maybe the fusible link on the battery went as well? No idea. At this point... you may even consider the car totaled. That really sucks.
