Hi All,
I have a 2012 infiniti g37x. I recently changed front differential and in the process broke a wire to the sensor to the right of differential and behind oil filter.
I do see 2 sensors. The broken one is to the left closer to differential. There is no check engine light and car starts fine. I thought it was oil temperature absurd and researched online but all of them show 2 pins to the connector but the broken one on the car shows one pin plug. Please let me know which sensor I have broken?

 

That is the oil pressure switch. They are not expensive and easy to replace.

 

How about the one next to it, which is connected?

Curious why the check engine light didn't show up? I have been running the car with it broken for more than a month.

 

The dummy oil pressure sensor will not trigger the CEL even if it's disconnected.

 

The check engine light is only for emission related problems. Low oil pressure is not an emission problem.
The oil pressure switch only purpose is to turn on the "low oil pressure light" on the dash.

I have had mine disconnected since January to make room for my oil pressure sensor.

 

Funny part is not even "low oil pressure light" show on dash and I am the only owner of the vehicle, so should be brand new from infiniti.

 

The low oil pressure switch works by connecting the the signal wire to ground, when the oil pressure is below about 4 psi. So, when it is disconnected, you will never see the low oil pressure warning.

BUT if you are low on oil pressure sensor, you will have an intake cam timing error like a P0011.

 

I have to replace mine. Do you know if I HAVE to get OEM or will aftermarket get the job done?

 

Aftermarket is fine... it is just a simple switch
