Steering Column Lock on 6MT Cars

Just a quick question for all you 6MT owners, sedan or coupe. Does your G have a steering column lock that activates when turning the car off? Ever since I got my 6MT sedan about 10 months ago I've noticed it never activates, if it is even there. A quick Google search yields bupkis so I figured I'd ask my boys and girls here! Just let me know 👌

All G's have electronic steering column lock (ESCL) devices. If you do not hear it engage/disengage when you turn on/off/lock the car then it is possible the previous owner disabled the module to prevent it from failing- a common issue on some 2009-2011 Nissan/Infiniti models.

Do you happen to know if there is a fuse for it? I can't find anything listed anywhere.

In the fuse box (IPDM/er) next to the battery. I believe it is a 10amp fuse labelled "STEER LOCK."

Personally, I would leave it alone especially if the fuse had been pulled. For informational purposes, when the ESCL fails, the car WILL NOT START. It is, in essence, dead until the ESCL is replaced. It is not a cheap, or easy, repair.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Just my 10¢. Your car, do as you will.

Such a stupid design. Imagine not being able to start your car in a remote area with no cell service. Thanks Nissan!
