I always thought those looked weird too, but with that "diffuser" that seems to attach to the oem bumper it does look better.

Believe me, I had 7 previous manual cars but am happy with it. The brakes are oem and come with brembo drilled rotors, I simply painted mine.
As far as the quad tips, plenty of people have welded on different tips attached to the mufflers but I prefer these moreso than the new RCF/GSF style.
I'm still trying to convince myself that it is ok to get a DCT if it is attached to a GT-R or an RS3. So far I have not been able to convince myself. Going all the way to a regular A/T will probably have to wait at least another decade for me.

Agreed. I really like the special order colors like the dark blue and the red for some reason. (Probably because that makes it so much more difficult to find the one I want, and why couldn't it ever be easy. )

Beautiful pics. I'm no photographer, but those are HDR augmented, aren't they?

That's not HDR, although you can tell they've played with the curves a bit.

Randy Probst takes a Model 3 around Willow Springs with Tesla engineers in tow. The Track Mode tuning results were pretty remarkable.

That was a very interesting article. It's cool that Randy Probst helped tune the software. I wonder how quickly the range diminishes when you drive a Tesla around a race track. I'll never forget when Top Gear first tested the Tesla roadster and promptly ran out of power. It sounds like they are really getting that car dialed in and it is not really even supposed to be a performance car. Impressive! I wonder how well it deals with heat.

If you could get the range figured out or have a quick charger at your track, just think how much money you would save in race gas. Now we just need to figure out how to make them sound cool. It would be nice to hear the limit of your tires around corners easier, but there are few sounds in this world that tickle my spine as much as hearing the uncorked exhaust of my car singing out of Canada Corner up the hill at Road America and echoing off of the trees in the forest.

I remember that original Roadster test too. lol The new Roadster coming in 2020 will really be something.

No problems with overheating now with the track mode cooling. You might be interested in this blog post by Mountainpass Performance, who went to Buttonwillow, got the fastest time in their class (with their mods), and ended up getting kicked off the podium because 2nd place complained that it was an EV that beat them. lol

I'm sure the engine will be fine. I just wonder about the brakes getting hot as the car weighs a lot and the rotors are not exactly huge.

355mm fronts aren't huge, but they aren't tiny either. Source out some race pads and you should be good to go. The BBK on the Performance 3 are Brembo, so that shouldn't be a problem.
