My wife just doesn't fit well in the sport seats. Driving it causes her sciatica on a massive scale. Riding shotgun is better but if we drive more than an hour anywhere she wants her Audi LOL.
Well heck yes I'd rather road trip in your new Audi. Who wouldn't?
My last road trip in the G was about a month ago, four hours each way. It was exhausting. I parked it in the garage when I got home and didn't touch it for a week.
Be reminded, we did this to ourselves. Exhaust, suspension, etc. Nobody's fault but our own.
Kiddo and I did a 3-hour each way trip to North Myrtle for a beach / trail ride back in August and my only real complaint about the car was the lack of CarPlay (which I have the damn Vline2, but not installed) and the cupholder situation. Otherwise... went great. I did several trips to Greenville (3-4 hours) before I got the company car with no comfort issues; the sport seats other than the support bars are very comfortable for long trips IMHO.
Now - I do heavily use the smart cruise feature of the work car and the Audi when traveling long distances in those. Decreases driver workload substantially.

I encounter momentary HS celebrity status when I drop my son off and am nestled in between a half dozen Teslas and Range Rovers. One kid told my son that he didn't know his dad was a "tuner" :-)
Had the garage door open while I was working the other day because it was a blast furnace outside and the 20 something FedEx guy stopped to tell me that he loved my G and that the G is his dream car.

I just used high grade front seat bolts and a bunch of fender washers to change the tilt (common to do in the RX7s rather than spend the $ on race seats/brackets)

Interesting, so other cars suffer a similar issue. Why does Z1 have these in their "Off Road" catalog? Liability thing because the seat is associated with a safety feature. I almost wonder if the team that created the front seats ever sat in the passenger seat or if they still had a functional coccyx.
Reminds me of the feel of the seats on airplanes. Perfect 90 degree angles because if the seat is tilted back even 5 degrees, the seat is unsafe (never understood the science behind this restriction).
The only Mecan I've ever driven was not the S. The interior was sooo nice in saddle brown leather, but the drivetrain was meh.
Oh, and the sales staff were aholes. Complete aholes.
I test drove a Macan S when I was looking to potentially order the GTS. I’ve also had a base Macan loaner once.
1) Base Macan is a terrible car. The loaner I had did not have the sport chrono package so you couldn’t even keep it in manual shift mode-it would constantly (and immediately) revert to automatic mode, even mid corner! Never seen anything like it. And absolutely no acceleration to it. Complete waste of money.
2) The S was much better. Piano black interior trim would take a beating for sure, but overall a competent car. Small inside.
3) I’m sure the GTS would have been that much better, but typically those aren’t around to test drive and they quickly get north of 100k.
Overall the Macan seems to be an internet driving favorite, but an internet reliability dog.
Now, to put this into perspective, I currently daily my FX50S and all I can say is that even comparing my 2011 FX50S to a branded new Macan S in 2024, the FX really holds its own, especially with the 5L engine. I paid $16000 for my FX50S about 6 years ago with 70k miles (but like new) and now if you look at the FX/QX they have gotten MUCH more expensive on the used market. People have figured out that these are REALLY good all around vehicles and I would not hesitate to pick up a last year 2017 with 50k miles as my replacement, They really are that good.
My wife has a hang-up with Genesis, probably because we bought our used A6 at a Hyundai/Genesis dealership and it was one of the worst car buying experiences ever. So she's exercised her veto power, which is too bad, I'd like to at least test drive one. It would be the value play.

I hope to drive a Macan S this weekend, the 2022+ gets a detuned version of the GTS 2.9TT, but it's almost impossible to find one with the sport chrono package. I can't find one within 500 miles for under $70K, so that is a good callout on the PDK behavior. To your point though, there are a lot of online knocks on reliability, but then again, it would probably take me a decade + to hit 100K, so I'm not sure how concerned I should be. Maintenance looks costly though, and parts definitely have the P-tax. Feels like a heavily optioned SQ5 with air suspension would be a far cheaper choice if that is the platform that does it for me. I just feel like I won't be able to resist lowering links, swaybars, engine/trans tunes etc. if I go that path, and I'm really more focused on getting a well balanced car that I leave stock.
The FX50S looks to be a gem, I remember reading reviews on them. Wish Infiniti still made cars like they put out in the 2010s.

FX50S, much like the M56S, is a car I appreciate and enjoyed driving. Great driving and ownership experience for the money! It really makes you appreciate what Infiniti used to build.

TBH - I’m not 100% certain that it was the lack of the sport chrono package on the base model that prevents holding the gears, but that was my assumption and regardless, whatever the cause, it was awful on a $65k car. My guess is the S will not have this similar issue, but keep an eye out just in case.
But, this car has never been garaged. I have full ppf on the front and the inside of the windshield with the 3M Crystalline to keep heat off of the dash. And I run her through the car wash multiple times per week. She’s a trooper. Only repairs I’ve done is a radiator in 150k miles.
I do have new OEM adjustable shocks, tie rods, sway bar links and diff bushings to freshen her up for the next 50k miles. I do a lot of travel baseball carpooling, so zero desire to replace until that is over…

That's fair a bad dealer experience can sour a brand. Tell her they'll pick your car up at home for service for the first 5 years so you won't have to spend any time at the dealer for a long time haha, I'd still think it's worth a test drive.
