A pearl white GTR with red leather and black trim... I could learn to love that car.
I love how 70% of that dashboard is owned entirely by the driver.

The Audi interior looks more mature, and less like a toy. Although the red trim on the vents is a little over the top.
Still, both are missing a clutch pedal. Obviously.

You sure that's for the Silver sport....Keep in mind, There are subtle differences with the RS400 and Silver sport that allow the RS to achieve the 400 horses versus the 300 of the silver sport. Something to do with the bearings of the turbos or something. That said, pretty cool to see what the 3.0 is capable of with some plug and play parts.
Both the silver sport and RS model have the same motor and turbos. The difference is the RS400 has optical speed sensors on the turbo and extra cooling. Factory RS400 tune has it pushing out slightly more boost than the silver sport model.
stock silver sport makes ~300whp
stock RS400 makes ~375whp
Once you bolt on and tune both the silver sport and RS400 models the end result is 2 cars that make "almost" the same power. In this case they make in the neighborhood of 400-450whp from what I've seen.

Z1 Motorsports posted up about 600 hp (crank) out of the silver sport when they were trying tunes. They said they would not go that high for the street and expect any reliability, but it is possible.

We had a used one here and I took a look at the maintenance schedule. It was really not much different than a normal Nissan, which is to say very little maintenance. However, the parts are expensive as you would expect.
Nissan recommends replacing the brake rotors and pads at the same time. I think we all know that is not really necessary, but probably highly recommended for maximum performance. Just like they recommend replacing all 4 tires at the same time. Not really necessary, but Nissan is probably covering its azz since it has such otherworldly performance.
I would also not recommend using launch control that often as the transmission is $20k to replace. I look for 2010+ because they got rid of launch control in 2010 and changed the gearing to get the same acceleration.

You can pick up some nice 2010+ w/30-60k miles for $50-$55k. Not cheap for a car, but still a damn bargain for that type of performance. Try to do the same thing with a 911 Turbo S.

I would go for the black interior with the alcantara inserts in a GT-R since I am not a big fan of leather always being too cold in winter and too hot in summer. In fact, if i got an RS3 I would probably pay to have alcantara put into those seats.
The red vents on the RS3 look a lot better in person. For some reason they really stand out in pictures.
The performance is otherworldly for the price. What is there not to get?
Well, to start, where on the street can you use that power? That's probably the biggie for me. And I think you can build a reliable 10 second car for what they go for. A 2010ish GT-R is going to be out of warranty anyway.
I was just really let down by the sound and the very high driving position. With the seat all the way down my helmet probably had 1" of clearance and I'm only 5' 9". For that money and performance I'd roll the dice on a 996 Turbo

I would use the acceleration, braking and handling of the GT-R multiple times everyday on my way to and from work. Also on back roads and track days like I do with any car. I tune every car I have so warranty is not terribly important for me.
You can always change the exhaust. The sound of my G was awful when I first got it too. I cannot fit in my G with a helmet. I am actually lowering my seat rails now so that I can fit with a helmet.
I drove a 996 turbo. It is a fun car on a race track at 100-150mph, but the GT-R has instant torque compared to it and is tremendously faster. I would not risk it with a 15+ year old Porsche unless you have deep pockets for repairs. Then again, the GT-R would not be terribly cheap to repair either.
