What vehicle will be a worthy replacement for your sedan when it is time?
Found myself randomly crawling around the net for a M235i 6MT this morning. Not sure why, but I came away thinking that I could really like this car. Or in a few years, a low-mileage M240i. Anybody here ever drive one?
In other new... after mentioning it here in this thread a few weeks ago, ChinkyChoy actually bought himself a GTR.

I’m finding myself increasingly open to a 6mt 340

I’m also starting to think about a 3rd car. Replace the G in the next 18 months, finance whatever I decide on for 5 years, payoff in 4.5 and then pickup a 3rd car on a 36 month note. My kids will be 9 and 11 by then and I should be able to reclaim the 3rd garage bay.
M2xxi is good money. Good friend of mine has a 228i with the sport package.... when he picked my wife and I up from the airport I didn't see the badge. It had so much grunt I thought it was the 6 banger. So I can only imagine what the 6 is like. Very nimble too. It has the same exact footprint as an E46 M3.
If I went the Bimmer route I think I'd have to go with the 335i. Surprisingly 4 5'9-6' adults fit in the 2, but I think the 3er would be better with kids. Plus the 3er only weighs like 20lb more than the 2 (which is kind of sad). Nowhere near as nimble or fun though

i drove my buddy's M235 a few times. very sharp, agile, and fast. only problem was it was a slushbox. 2 series are essentially the same size as previous 3-series coupes, well before they got bloated and became 4 series (don't know the model code). the 4 series is huge and wide, heavy too. the same friend now has a '17 M3 and '15 M4. don't ask why he has two of essentially the same car...
for my money, and a lot of automobile journalists too, the M235/240 is the sweet spot for BMW's high-po offerings that can be exploited on the street. the M4 is too big/heavy/bloated, expensive, and hard to control. the boost hits too hard. the times i drove the above-mentioned M4 i feel like traction control is almost always kicking in. he and other guys i know have come to wrecking numerous times. kinda like the old 5.0 mustangs which couldn't handle the power. and his M3 has the competition package which makes it unlivable on the street - too rough.
the other M2XX competitor for me? porsche boxster S/cayman S. i've been snooping the car market on those too...
My FIL had a M6. It was big and heavy. Kinda like BMW made a Camaro. 5.0 V10 was fantastic though, especially at 8000 rpm.

With that rational, cheaper to buy the camaro and a civic

Good observation about the vents. Will have to see just how much I like/hate air coming from that direction.
I couldn't get over how bulky the Camaro SS was when I tested it. Blind as a bat when making lane changes and the turn radius felt pig-ish. Straight line it would rip but after three separate test drives I was convinced it was a no go for me. I should mention, this was 2010-2013 models. Can't say how the new ones drive.

I didn't get that feeling in '16 model. The side mirrors were actually pretty good. I also install those 2" wide angle mirrors so that helps even more. For backing up there's the rear view camera.
Looking at some maintenance tasks I came across this.
A little mind blowing the car doesn't have dedicated central jack points to get the front/rear off the ground.
