Congrats! Nice Golf R. I think those are the best looking wheels they put on the R (and I am still a sucker for white even though I keep telling myself my next car will be a different color due to rail dust). That is a great sleeper and can be made very fast. I am looking forward to the next Golf R set to debut this year. I just hope the cool digital displays inside are not the only highlights.

Oh man, you are not wrong about that!

Black paint = obsession over swirls and spots.
White paint = obsession over rail dust and road tar.

I'm thinking blue next time. I've never, ever owned a blue car before.

I'll never own another black vehicle again. I said that last time I owned a black vehicle, but I mean it this time. I'd love green next, but also love a lot of blues on cars. Or else a dark grey for a basic colour.

Matte charcoal - won’t show dirt or smudges. Also blends into the pavement so kinda stealth.

just please not the ceramic metallic (real color) like the miata rd and the stinger.

I had a rally blue pearl Subaru before it was a thing and a dark blue M3. Both were great colors because they were metallic. I had a black 370Z that was metallic too and it was not too bad. I am thinking this time around I will go with blue, red, or black- and probably in that order depending on the car.

The BMW dark blue has always been a favorite, back from when Mazda made a very few FC RXs in Brave Blue.

A few days ago I saw a guy who lives a few blocks away from me cleaning a Corvette C8 under a canopy by his garage, while his garage seemed full of boring Audi SUVs with super large Vorsteiner wheels. The Corvette was red, but to be honest it doesn't look really American like it used to with previous generations. I only saw the back portion and the sides. The back looks like a knock off of the new Camaro generation (kind of lazy if you ask me) with fake grilles in the back. It didn't really look all the cool, sort of bland with a generic design resembling the new Acura NSX mixed with a little bit of Ferrari cues, but executed awkwardly. When the C7 debuted 7 years ago, I thought it was cool even though in the later years I realized how awful the steering is due to electric steering. This one really didn't even move me, even when it came out with Youtuber car reviewers raving about it. It looks half-@ssed and overly generic. But it is cool to know that America has a cool sports car that sold out when they opened up reservations, while still having the best bang for the buck performance right out of the box. I'll just stick with the C6 and C3, since those were my only favorites and have more American soul with that cracker barrel customer feeling.

I agree that the C8 has a bit of a generic feeling when it comes to the styling and the tail lights do look a lot like a Camaro, but the fact that it is mid engine does amazing things for its handling and especially the acceleration. Fortunately, it does have a bit of Ferrari 360 Modena styling to the front end. It will be interesting to see how far they can take the performance of this platform in the Z06 and ZR1 models. Lots of rumors about hybridization and AWD. Things could get very interesting for this Corvette.

Black was never my first choice, however my luck to find good deals seems to always pull me into a black car.

1. Looks are subjective, no idea what it means for a car to look "American".
2. The grilles in the back are not fake, on the c7 they housed the transmission and diff coolers.
3. I get it, you really hate electric steering however you are the only one to think the C7s steering is awful.
4. I will not own a C8, no manual = no care. A mid engine v8 with a manual would have been a joy to drive.
