I want one of these Peugeot 406s, that came out in the mid 90s through early 2000s. This is the Supertourisme spec and it has 310 bhp and annihilated BMW and Audi in the Super Tourenwagen Cup races in Europe. They weigh practically nothing, pretty safe, FWD, and have a robust 4 cylinder that is naturally aspirated. I would have a blast with this on the streets and on race courses. Wish America had more French cars, only seen less than 10 Renaults in the US and most are from a different country. They're not as bad as Top Gear hosts say, they're just a pita to repair parts for because if you want to replace one little part you have to buy the whole thing that it is a part of and it can get expensive sometimes. They are mechanically sound, especially when the French created the first car and not the fake story of Karl Benz.

I was at a cars & coffee a few years ago, and there was a guy there with an Aston Martin Vantage. It wasn't a show car, not at all. It was a 10 year old daily driver, and that DD abuse showed. The guy had bought it used and well-worn, and was just fixing things as they broke.

Anyway, I always thought it would be special using a car like the Vantage for DD duty.

Good news, that car will be legal to import here in 2 years and now if they made them in 1995.

Aston Martins are such nice cars. A number of years ago our company took in a used DBS (think James Bond Casino Royale). At the time it was my favorite Aston Martin. The CEO brought the car by and let me drive it. You know how they say, "never meet your heroes?" It was gorgeous inside and out and sounded fantastic. But it was not special to drive and not terribly fast. I actually have more fun driving my G37 the way it is now. Still an awesome car and I was very fortunate to have the experience.

^ That's still a very stunning car even after all these years!

I have never had the opportunity to drive a DBS, but I had a similar experience with the last generation Vantage V8. Even with the manual transmission the car was still lacking that level of engagement you expect when you get behind the wheel of a car that looks that good (and costs that much). I'm still very interested in driving the current generation DB11 and Vantage V8, but not until the prices on those come down a little more.

A big part of it is that the Aston Martins have almost always been heavy grand touring cars instead of lightweight sports cars. But they are damn good to look at aren't they?

I much rather prefer the mid 2000s Astons than what we have out now. Especially since the new ones look like an oversized Mazda Miata with Mercedes internals and interior. They had a stripped out raw version of the V8 Vantage long ago, I believe James May drove it. I just don’t get that fizzing sensation when I see new Aston Martins, they’re just too ugly and bland for me, but when I saw a jet black 2007 DB9 a few months ago, man did I get goosebumps all over my body. I would drive the hell out of one, and now I want one. Not always about the speed with these beasts, they’re more orientated towards James Bond class and handling.

I've been really tempted by this vehicle. Already 20% discount and it's a great color. But I want to lease it and they note the car is used even though it's never been titled. I don't get it.

The carfax link says it was a Corporate/ Fleet Vehicle. Dealer must have titled it at some point.

If I'm lucky enough to still be able to drive when I retire, I think I will have something new and boring to DD (Miata?) and something old and cool to wrench on/tool around in.

assuming I can find one that needs more TLC than money.

That's a great deal for that car. If I could trust myself not to try to mod it, I'd consider it as a DD.

It was used for a car show. It's brand new. I have called the dealership asking why it can't be leased and they can't really explain it to me. Even with no further negotiations, lease would be $350-375 a month.

I know it seems like a new car, but by definition, if it's already titled, it's used, even if that use was for a car show and it has 32 miles on it. And since leases are manufacturer backed, not dealer backed, there is no calculated residual or money factor to quote you with. There might be another way around it through a 3rd party or something, but the dealership probably doesn't want bothered.
