Yep! That's the one. I knew I saw it on here somewhere awhile back and finally bit the bullet. Thanks for being the guinea pig!
It only required unhooking the spring to remove.
Took the family winery hopping in the Finger Lakes Region with the G. The weather was gorgeous and the G was flawless. Our day was filled with fun, food, wine and endless winding roads. It was the perfect Father's Day.
We're experiencing a stretch of temps over 90°F this week, with high humidity, and I've got a bit of Leatherique left over from a few years ago. So this morning I put the car in the sun, massaged the Rejuvenating Oil into the two front seats, then covered them each with black plastic leaf bags. I'm going to let it bake until tomorrow, when I'll use what's left of the Pristine Cleaner to clean up the seats.
I've done this before like 3 times in years past, but it's been a while, and the seats could stand some deep cleaning. Granted, this will do nothing to mitigate the driver's seat center panels, which are worn down and damaged to the point where I need to engage with an upholsterer for replacement or repair. But for the rest of the leather, this should work really well. All the little spider cracks go away, all the grime gets lifted out, and the leather ends up supple and clean.
If you've never heard of Leatherique, it's an easy Google for how-to videos and reviews.

Had the G 1-stage paint corrected, detailed, and interior detailed. Doesn't look like a pollen bomb any more, but the paint on the roof and trunklid are in bad shape - detail guy said he could smooth them out but it would likely cut through the paint. UV damage.
The roof is the worst. I'm contemplating having him smooth it down and getting the roof section wrapped to protect it - I can only imagine a repaint would be in the $5k range just for the roof.
The hood has a lot more chips than I remembered, too.
Disappointing, but as long as you are short and can only see the sides, she's very shiny now!

I am in the exact same boat as you. It also appears, judging from many older Nissan/ Infinit's on the road here, that the roof is almost always the first to show paint fading/ peeling/ chipping. My hood and decklid are decent (for a 16-year-old car that is outside its whole life) but the roof is shot. I shudder to think the estimate to get the whole car redone .
That "Carolina Sun" is merciless... (joys of coastal beach life)

I'm not in that boat. I have one rather odd chip on my roof, and two small, barely noticeable chips on my hood. But otherwise the hood, roof and trunk are as pristine as the day they were new.
Garage queen. I'm approaching 54k miles.

Yup. The South, especially the coast, is *brutal* to anything outdoors...
My house has a fiberglass front door. It's painted. It still has UV damage/dry rot, and it is on a covered stoop. Even pressure-treated lumber here is only good for a year or so, if outside and exposed.
Took the G for a spin to warm it up before moving it back to the front of the driveway. Cleaned goop the detailed missed on (in) the sunroof opening. Evicted a treefrog underhood. Reconnected trickle charger. Got a car cover for the G and installed.
I'm debating hitting an Ale and Octane this Sunday. (Cars and coffee, but lunch time, at a brewery). Would like to do something about the fading/rough paint on the roof though; not sure what I can do other than colormatched wax without a full strip and repaint.
Today I did a little DIY fun! Made and installed a grounding kit, removed the air box silencers and did a G.A.B. mod.
After doing the grounding kit it costs me roughly $40 to make and 45 mins to install once the cover was off, pretty easy and straight forward. My quick review is the treble in the speakers is clearer and louder. Really no extra bass from the grounding however. The shifts are a hair quicker I'd say about 10% maybe 15% tops. The most noticeable and best thing I got from was the grounding was when shifting wide-open throttle near the rev limiter it shifts quicker so you do not have to predict your shifts a few seconds before you actually want it to shift. For a fun little project do it in my opinion was worth it but I wouldn't say it would be worth buying a pre-made kit or spending more than $60.
Now for the air box mod:
Air boxes removed
You can see the silencer sticking up with the air box removed on passenger side
Driver side silencer tube
The silencers
Boxes drilled before filling, smoothing and cleaning.
Boxes reinstalled
Boxes and grounding kit all done and put back together!
Quick review on the air box mod with silencers removed - Now this was a free mod and purely for the joy of wrenching on the car and getting a little more sound. The extra airflow from this may help but I would say it's negligible performance from the button dyno. However sound wise there is much more induction noise when the pedal is fully pressed to the floor and there is a hair more resonance in the cabin because of it. Driving around at normal speeds or accelerating without pushing the car to redline it sounds very similar to stock. More noise and less weight is a plus in my book haha.
I am pretty sure drilling a bunch of holes in the OEM air boxes is not going to improve anything, if anything you will be getting hotter air now, instead of cool air being channeled through the one opening.
They got rid of the air box "silencers" I believe after 2010, they just have caps on them now.
Not to plug myself here, but there are a few cold air intakes on the for-sale section, including my first iteration. They pull cold air from in front of the radiator. No tuning required unless you increase the tube size where the AFM is located.

The perks of being a Mod, eh Mike? Very little perk, LOL.
