Today I had a nail removed and plugged in one of the rear tires. It's frustrating, but honestly, I'm just glad to have found it, and that it was dead center in the tread. Could have been worse... these PSS are stupidly expensive.

And I had the underside shifter linkage boot replaced, because the original was shredded. IDK how long it's been that way, but it was toast. Here's the new one:

 

You know what I like about this thread? It's essentially a taken for granted running journal of the seemingly normal daily activities surrounding our passion. At first glance, it appears mundane, until you find yourself scanning through and reviving old posts for the nuggets they contain. I vote for a sticky!

Someone will eventually get the idea to write a book based on these types of car culture activities, and the associated personalities.

I've been informed over and over that you should not plug PSSs. It's supposed to be an internal patch only. Something about the belting and tire reliability, blah, blah, blah. It was one of the things that had me on the fence with the tires, because while they're not the most expensive, they aren't free.

Now I can stop avoiding the new house being built in my neighborhood...LOL.

+1 on the no plugs, I have a patch on one of my PSS rears...no issues and $100 for a pair of 285/35 w/90% hard to complain about it.
what size are you running Roch?

 

What? God damn it.

Grr-r-r-r. Now I have to get it patched and rebalanced. You know, all these years and I still don't have a go-to shop for tire mounting and balancing that I'm totally happy with.

btw.. wouldnt be too concerned about plug versus patch..
my experience was the same.. was told no no to a plug after ive had it done..
but a season of autocross and some track duty on the tires later... it held up quite a bit more for street use..
lasted me the lifetime of the tire..

yep.. this was my random rant...

 

1. passed CT emissions (changed Uprev to the stock tune), the auto tech indicated that he's seen G37's pass with HFC's as well - just don't throw any codes. I might look into getting a set of BERK's

2. Put the car on ramps and checked the underside for signs of rust/salt/debris etc. from the winter..... Also the Eibach rear sway bar and bushings looked good after it's first winter.

3. Installed the FI CBE (2.25" w/18 resonators). The install went well - took me approx 2.5 hours (start to finish including the removal of the stock exhaust). Very pleased with the sound/fit & finish/performance.

4. Started to clean up my set of 19" Rays....looking at color options for future powdercoating....TBD.

 

I finally got the eBay ***** in and installed half of them. The right side just will not come out lol. I'll have to keep tugging at them to loosen them up.

 

Use some type of tool I installed mine yesterday and had to use tools lol. Here's the pic if you get a hold of vice grips you'll be set but I'll post what I used lol don't laugh it worked haha. I used a small flat head on some on the side of the **** and pulled and then got frusturated and got the big tool haha
