What you're doing with the engine cover... I've never seen that before, and the idea is brilliant. Really hoping this works out for you, Hexotic. Super clever idea.

Now is the perfect time to add a trans or oil cooler.

Hexotic, I applaud your DIY mentality but why would you go through all the hassle with the ducts if you have SRI? Sorry but theres still going to heat soak no matter what you do with them. Why not go with a CAI? You were already there with the air ducts and takes no more than 15-20 minutes with a dremel to enlarge.

Nice job on the bumper hexotic. I was thinking of doing the same to mine this summer.
Garage is getting some good use already.

Really psyched to see how this turns out. One of the things that always bugged me about the intake manifold mod was the poor fitment with the OEM engine cover. I know it shouldn't matter, but it does. This idea of yours is so out-of-the-box, I love it.

And I like how you used CF wrap on the curvy panels under the trim seal. It's going to tie into the center of your engine cover so nicely.

Hope it all works out, because you're kind of committed once you powered up the Dremmel tool.

Not quite understanding the placement of your CF wrap, though. You cut it so there's a horizontal line in the middle of the pattern.

The ducts help the SRI get a bit more air volume, and the K&N fell into my lap thanks to Adrian, so I'm not going to drop money on CAI just yet while I have these kicking around. Maybe in the future, but for a daily driver that sees one track day a year, its fine. The heat shields around the filters are getting turned into air boxes as well, so that will help.

The M370 came off my friends car who cut the single plate into two pieces becuase of the weird setup he was running. I screwed up the direction of the wrap on one of them, fixed it after to make sure they both sit at the same angle.

Because I didn't know that the G37 community weren't fans of Illest. I figured it'd look cool but I guess I was wrong.

I agree with DFS here. All that trouble can be mitigated with a true CAI by reposistioning the placement of the filters. I understand if finances were an issue and it's a temporary solution.

There are a ton of members you will come across like iCrap who will pick at anything that he does not agree with. If you enjoy the license plate frame, keep it. Modify your car how you want. You're driving it.

Ditto. Very creative work, Hexotic. But I suspect it's entirely pointless. On the upside, you're super familiar now with dropping the front bumper, so when the time comes to upgrade your intake, you got this.

So when does the intake manifold get installed?
