Good to be back in the saddle

I realize I don't post or contribute much here, so my apologies. But God knows I've learned a ton here.

Anyhoo, I have a 2010 Anniversary xS and I jut adore it. I'm now at 65K and I commute in it daily in the worst traffic in the nation - NOVA to DC.

I started having gas gauge issues, and having bought the extended CPO warranty, took it in for diagnostics when I next needed an oil change (it had thrown a code and I got a check engine light). Well, Infiniti suggested replacing the entire instrument panel, and I therefore found myself in a loaner for a staggering three plus total weeks (it was time consuming for the dealer to get the instrument pod pre programed with my true mileage).

During that time period, I was in two different Q50 loaners - both 2015.
THANK GOD I DID NOT BUY A Q WHEN THEY CAME OUT. Seriously, after having been in two examples for nearly a month, all I can say is, IMO, the Q is a little less than half the car the G is. Sure, it's got fancy dancy LED lights that make it look all high tech, but from a driving dynamics point of view, there is little comparison in my opinion. I wear my G, and I was just a passenger in the Q. My G makes me part of the road, and in the Q I was just along for the ride. I am now convinced that if anything were to ever happen to my G, I'd either replace it with another similar one, or likely go to a different brand.

That is all. And again, I so greatly appreciate the wealth of information and DYI shared on this great site.

I have not driven one, but the Q seems to be fairly unloved by G drivers. It's too bad, because the design is nice, IMO.

Thank you for the opinion! As I do like the new cosmetic features of the Q I'm a G man for life

I am a G guy but next month I have a test drive the new Q50S with the 400Hp. I may keep it for a day to see if it's worth switching.

I'm actually on the other side of this...returned my leased '13 G37xS for a '15 Q50S AWD.

Granted my G37xS wasn't heavily modded, but was enough to make a difference from a stock one. I find that the Q50S does have a "different" ride compared to my G37xS, but handles better with DAS and that's with the stock sport suspension...which I'm so happy that Infiniti did it right this time with the Q50S!
You do lose the rawer feedback feel from the G37xS though. The Q50S steering is more precise and quicker...this of course is due to the DAS setting on Quick/Heavy in Sport mode.

The Base/Premium Q50 is not even close compared to the Q50S with DAS.
I find the negative reviews about the DAS is blown out of proportion and I think DAS is an actual plus.
It does take a bit of time driving to appreciate it.

Still the G37xS has a small place in my heart and will always be there, but the Q50S so far has been a great "upgrade"

Test driving the RS400 is actual scheduled or is it something you plan on doing?
AFAIK it hasn't been yet available and only the 2.0T is at dealerships.

I used to commute from NoVA to DC via Metro, but my G has spoiled me and I've been driving into DC ever since the New Year. I'm usually on the road by 6.30am though, so I avoid the traffic. Bumper-to-bumper in a 6MT is not fun.

I honestly dont know why anyone would pay more for a Q. This model looks the same from 2008 up..only minor differences seperate the models and years none anyone on the outside nor we should care about......if it wasnt for the gasket issue I would have bought an older model and saved even more.

This might be a whole other matter, but my leased '13 G37xS payment were higher then my current Q50S and the Q50S is better equipped.
The buy out for the G37xS was $10K more than what it was worth compared to the Q50S that was priced $10K more than the G37xS's cost at the time of lease 3 years ago.

G37xS : $44,800
Q50S : $55,775

This was sticker price and the cost I paid was negotiated below these.

I think I did alright...

In my opinion, the Q50S is a better vehicle compared to the G37xS...even in its stock stage vs. my slightly modded G37xS.

But this is only "my" opinion....

I have the dealer called me and we are scheduled to test drive sometime the end of the month. I went to the autoshow in Atlanta and I talked to the Infiniti representative to call me when they get the RS400.
