infiniti broke my car :(
so i took my car for a simple key program that i bought used so i can have a second set of keys. they said during the process the ecm cut out and halted the process. now the car wont start with original key. damn i had plans for the car all week. anyone hear of this happening before?
so i got a call saying the ecm needs to be replaced and the service guy proceeds to tell me the cost and im like "im supposed to pay for it?". and he was like yea so im like thats crazy. i provide him some simple logic as to why they should be fixing it bc they broke it. and he said he will check with the service manager and call me back. so im waiting for the call back. but on that day they did provide a loaner
Basically ask them did the car start with my working key when you took it back to the service bay? (answer will be yes) Then ask did the car start with my working key after you tried to program it (answer will be no) ..... case closed, you broke it, you fix it.
I bought a second key for our G and had Nissan program it, they had a tough time but got it. Leads me to believe it's a somewhat complicated process (multiple key presses, things done in succesion, etc) so any service goober trying to rush could screw it up.

lol i jus really hope they dont try and drag this on. imo its quite simple. they messed up they should take the responsibility. im not sure if they already know they are going to fix it but tried as a first attempt to get me to pay for it knowing that they should pay for it. but just wanted to try and see if i would pay or not . i dont wanna mention the dealer until things are resolved. i dont want to give them a reason to hate me and refuse service. i wanna be nice and keep things smooth

This exactly. They'll of course try and have you pay for it on the first attempt but in the end it was a simple key program. This is a no brainer to the service manager.
Which dealership was this?
There is no game or plan in which you will be responsible for the parts unless they can prove it was faulty before you dropped it off. I bet they are calling around for the best deal on a replacement.
