Probably should have posted my exhaust video here first. But here was a quick trip back from the post office. Video isnt the best, as I used my phone to record while being held in place with the passenger seat headrest. OBX(grip), Berks and intakes.
Thanks for clarifying , lol . Yes I've seen the OBX that looks like a "regular" exhaust, you just mean the OBX that looks identical to the ARK grip
A similar design of flex pipes right off the cats, twin resonators tucked tightly against a severe x-connector, and Helmholtz resonators just in front of the mufflers.
But identical? Nope. The ARK looks like a better quality build. It might be the same, better or worse... but it looks better, is all.
I don't think "grip" is a style. It's ARK's model name.
there is no doubt the ARK looks like the better system, no welds, more of a one piece , where the OBX has several welds, that's where the problems can occur...like I mentioned before Rochester, sometimes you get what you pay for....bottom line is the ARK worth $700 more than the OBX ? Im not asking you to answer that, Im saying hypothetically
There's a shop near my job I was considering using for my Volvo who custom makes systems like that. It looks gorgeous but that many seams means that many chances for leaks to creep up. Maybe if I was in a state where it didn't snow.
Agreed the Ark system looks and I'm sure is of a much higher quality. But for less than half price, I couldn't pass on the OBX system. Especially considering I wasn't planning on a catback at all. But in the end, other than the price, the fact that I want to get e-tuned by Seb was the deciding factor. Winters aren't bad in TX, so as long as the OBX welds can withstand a few cold days, hopefully it'll be fine.

I kinda figured that grip wasn't a style, but I knew it was an easy way to tell you guys what type of catback it was.
There are MANY welds on the ARK Grip Exhaust. To imply otherwise is silly. Their own website shows the raw metal and weld seams.
There are 5 alone just for the x-pipe section.
The Helmholtz resonators have at least 4. 1 where it splits off from the main exhaust. 1 where it inserts the resonator. 2 for the ends of the resonator. It is clear as day.
There are probably 20 welds on the ARK exhaust. I am sure they are all very good welds but for people to keep commenting that there are no welds...I just don't get it.
