Yep. First inexpensive mod I did on this car was have my mechanic cut the OEM tips off and weld something new in their place. Went with that for three years until getting a full catback.

The OEM tips are garbage on the G37. Seems like such a boneheaded design decision, too.

Those are def some ugly tips lol. And sorry guys I'll 100% post pics tomorrow. Just got home and the warriors game is on haha.

But I got my tips in but I have no idea how to attach them to the axle back -_-. I'll figure it out. 4.5" tips are huge btw. I thought my Ark Grip tips were huge. Boy was I wrong.

Edit: wow I guess 4.5" looks different on the car as ark is 4.5" as well. WTF lol

Do they make one that fits AWD? A resonated y-pipe is attractive to me, as I don't want rasp.

I'm not going too crazy with my power bolt-ons, so exhaust and intake are pretty much it as far as things that affect a tune. It's awfully tempting to do the manifold, but I'm not sure the performance gains justify the cost. The exhaust has the double effect of also making the car look better.

Right now, I have silicone tubes and Afe pro dry filters up front, and I've considered doing a full intake replacement, but I'm skeptical it gets me that much in terms of performance over what I have. I don't really want an intake that requires me to pull the bumper to clean filters either, so my options are reduced to short ram systems which offer less actual performance than long tube CAI's. The cats and narrow areas in the exhaust are the pinch points for airflow. Plus, I actually like the way the black silicone tubes look in the engine bay. I like to keep it simple. I only wish there were a less ugly version of the plastic boxes up front for the filters available.

The plan right now is to put the exhaust on, get my tune (already bought Ecutek) and be done with engine performance mods. Something could always catch my eye, I suppose, but I only want to tune once.

Already done: Hotchkiss Swaybars, endlinks, (rear SPL adjustable and front Moog) Swift Springs, H&R 15mm Spacers, Kinetix front camber arms, SPC rear camber arms, Akebono BBK w/EBC rotors and Project mu pads, the aforementioned Z1 silicone post-MAF tubes and Afe pro dry filters, and I'm having Whiteline poly diff bushings done at the same time as the exhaust goes on tomorrow. Next stop, tune.

Jake, holy crap man, I’m so sorry your exhaust got lost/stolen. I feel like by the time we’ve got these things installed they’ll be like damned badges of honor. “Oh, you ordered your exhaust online and got it and installed it in 3 days? That’s cute.” Your posts made me nervous so now I’m checking the tracking data on mine as we speak LOL.
Lol thanks man. Badges of honor ineeed. I will scream the call of our people through the streets of Portland, offending mothers and exciting enthusiasts. Oh Saturday, you can not come soon enough

The exhaust is scheduled to be delivered by UPS tomorrow. Saturday is going to be a day of celebratory, boisterous WOT revving and unnecessary downshifting. Hopefully I can set off some car alarms like my dads old mustang.

I almost forgot the design... one dual-pipe muffer just 18" after the cats, feeding straight pipes with a Helmholtz resonator at each end. Man, that's going to be loud. Really, really loud.

I set of car alarms sometimes (once in a blue moon) in parking garages with my ark. I'll for sure be able too with my MD (Not that I'm trying to). I can just imagine you pacing back and forth at work until Saturday. Mine is installed on Thursday.

Depending on how loud it is, if it's too much, I'll order FI RHFC or maybe go back to stock. The ark has a muffler and resonator at the end so it's def gonna be louder than the ark. I'll try and get a sound clip for Thursday.

My hermoltz resonators are slightly different in the rear section I’ll try to post a pic for you.

Mine are squared. I don’t think it’s a big deal but I just noticed that

Ahh are you talking about the HH resonator on the axle back is more squared off on the bottom versus mine being more rounded? Shouldn't be a big deal, or I hope not.

Here are pics of mine, although my resonators are similar to Cal's. I think you'll be fine like he said though.

Correct. I’ve been noticing some inconsistency with MD. No complaints here just a lil weird and sometimes it scares me because I ordered through a shop and I know there are knock offs out there!
