Here's a clip of my car with ark + stock cats. Windows up at first, then windows down around 40 seconds. Go to around 50 seconds to hear the drone. The sound is much more noticeable in real life.

Oh wow. I didn’t really notice that boominess until now. Is it bad for daily driving? It’s so strange how I’ve seen so many posts talk about little to no in-cabin drone and then see this. Anyways, speaking of drone, I went down a rabbit-hole last night with the thought of single exhaust. Hours and multiple forums later, I came across these:
What you’re looking at is Motordyne’s take on titanium exhaust, built in both single and dual format. Until now I thought the only game in town was GT Haus and Tomei, but seeing these sparked my interest. I highly doubt Tony would create a single system again, but with an exhaust piece that looks this good (my subjective-2 am potato brain), I think I might consider a custom piece that looks and sounds the way I want. Thoughts?
Ninja edit: Spoke to the shop and we agreed to modify the MD y-pipe in order to make the E370 work with my car. Stay tuned, I think when this is all said and done I’ll be the only 2008 G35x sedan running the E370.

From my previous research , I think most people say single exhausts are going to be louder and drone more than dual but I'm not 100% positive on that statement. That is a crazy looking exhaust right there though, that's for sure. Congratulations on being able to modify your exhaust for your car. Quick question, what engine do you have if you're a 5AT? VQ35HR? When do you think you guys are going to start welding and installing your MD?

Drone isn't that bad if you give it the right amount of throttle. I've gotten used to it. And I hardly let it get as loud as it was in the clip.
If you're looking for single exhaust, might also want to look ingo greddy revolution rs. I know a couple people on the370z run that.

Update back if your modified Y pipe works out.
To answer your question if my car was a manual transmission, its a 7AT. But I did get those pops while driving in manual mode in 2nd and 3rd gear especially around 3k RPM. If you accelerate a little and let go, it will pop a few times (small ones). Like a puh-puh-puh lol . This was with my ARK + Z1
As for the drone with the ARK, i think its not that bad. Maybe I got used to it as well, but I had no issue with driving it on highways. I think when it comes to the topic of drone, it is relatively impossible to rate it as we all have different opinions on what we consider drone. A little tiny hum could be the end of the world for someone while to another, it's non-existent. Some people actually like hearing drone while they drive, but of course, they usually get TPs + a Tomei .
Regardless, with the MD + Stock cats, WellNot should be fine with the drone as Jake mentioned it was very minimal.
So I pretty much agree with Kroy except in reality, as long as you drive above 2k and under 3k, the car is pretty quiet while cruising. If you're going up a hill in automatic mode in a low gear at 1.5k RPM, you will hear the drone then .
Edit: I also think I have a higher tolerance for drone then others.

Yeah I think a single would be louder but since I’d have to go custom I’d probably have a resonator added somewhere. The quality on it looks pretty insane too! And yeah thank you, it looks like the shop is going to have the y-pipe modified, only question is when. I have the VQ35HR. I’m also looking into having the welder modify the titanium tips from the MD as well. You always see JDM exhaust systems with crazy colors on their titanium offerings (look up the Agency Power single for the G35 coupe), but rarely see it on other systems. After doing some research, it turns out that titanium actually turns different colors in reaction to varying levels of heat. The blue titanium tips often show that the titanium was exposed to heat for a long period of time. Other colors can be achieved by exposing the titanium to a heat source for less time. For me, I want to see about getting a purple burn with a bit of gold mixed in. All it takes is titanium and a torch. I’ll keep you guys updated on my progress!
Are vq37 and vq35hr headers interchangeable? Looking to redo my exhaust to a full custom ss long tubes to x pipe into 12in res mid pipe to hks axle back.

AFAIK they are. The engine in one sits lower than the other though FWIW.
Jake that is loud, but in a good way. Are you happy you got rid of your Berks?
That video does not do justice on the actual volume. His setup with the Berks may be a little louder than my Z1s, but this video do not accurately represent how loud it really is. It's way louder in person. I'm sure Jake is happy.
Also, for your car, I feel like MD is going to sound different than ours. That is because 350 and g35 HRs usually do. Your car should theoretically sound like a 2007-2008 350z, since you guys have the same engine, versus a 2009 g37. And since you have a VQ35hr, you couldn't apply the MD TDX? or is the piping too short as well as the g37s exhaust system seems longer than the older Gs.
I feel like your car will drone more as you need to cruise in 5th on the freeway as well as I feel like those 35HRs are way more aggressive sounding. Then again, I'm not sure.
