Curious as to why you'd think that's the case? Performance numbers, build quality, sound?

For me, I'd go with FI any day over Motordyne, but that doesn't mean that I believe FI to be the best - just the best for me.

I put a tanabe medallion axleback on my 2009 G37x sedan today and on the way to get it installed my cat seperated and now makes a ticking noise between 900-1100rpm. I went with the Tanabe because I didn't want too much sound from the exhaust, but it is a little weak even for my tastes.. since I have to put new cats on anyways, what do I do now? Hi Flow cats, normal cats, resonated vs non-resonated? should I replace any of the other pipes?

Resonated

That guy is running HFCs from Kinetic, are they okay? I don't really have the money for Fast Intentions unless I save up another month

I am running FI Resonated HFC w/ Tanabe and it's worth the money. Correct me if I'm wrong, but FI make the only HFC with resonators on the market. The resonators help keep drone to a minimum and reduce exhaust gas temps.

But regardless of all that, I waited almost two months for my RFHC and it was worth it. I have zero drone on the highway with my setup, but, when I'm feeling dangerous, its like perfect. It's not too loud (medium sound) but the combo produces an insanely good exhaust note. I feel like now I can almost hear the engine "breathing" through my pipes.

My buddy is in the process of making a video as we speak, will post it in here soon.

Ark has resonated cats, but it's different tech.

MXP makes double-resonated test pipes for our car (no catalyst).

thanks guys I ordered the Resonated HFC's from Next level performance. They had a 7% off tax time coupon, so I figured I would just get the ones I knew were the best (IMHO)

Oh wow. Those MXP resonated test pipes are perrrty!!!

And those ARK units looks like copies of Motordyne's ART pipes except with the extra in-line resonator.

Probably. There's some kind of noticeable overlap between ARK and Motordyne. Don't know what it is, but there's something there.

Just wanted to update and I will make a thread as soon as I have video.

I have non-resonated test pipes, stock y-pipe, 2.5 stainless mandrel pipe to a glass pack resonator, more 2.5 stainless mandrel which expands to 3 inch pipe into my gigantic *** HKS Universal Hi-Power muffler. It sounds insanely powerful, clean, vicious and awesome. Quiet when cruising but a screaming beast when I floor it. I also have photos of the entire setup so I'll post those sometime this week.

edit: It is a single exit exhaust setup. There is absolutely ZERO drone. I've already put close to 500 miles on the setup and everything is great.

A good start is to get the Vibrant 12" resonators. They add a very nice tone when paired with the Tanabes. Here is my sound clip:

So this is the setup I was talking about. I'll get a video sometime soon. It doesn't sound tinny or cheap. It low bass rumble, and when downshifting there is a perfect amount of snap crackle pop which sounds awesome.

Do you plan on replacing the stock Y-pipe at any point? Could you take / post a pic of a shot from behind with the car off the lift? Curious to see what it looks like in an everyday setting. That canister doesn't look too crazy - might be because it isn't angled but that looks clean.
