This is often a common misconception. Your intake would literally have to be submerged to hydrolock your engine. Some rain isn't going to lock you up. I drove a Mazda with a CAI located down where the fog light was located for 125k miles without issue. So far, I've drove the G in a couple storms and no hiccups - as expected.

I'm not making any claims I can personally say I have experienced, but I do know we had a customer have a Stillen Gen 3 installed on his G WITHOUT the rain guard, and his car got hydrolocked. Now, the technician that told me this I wouldn't 100% trust but I can't count his story out either. Anyway, since I don't have a second car the rain guard is going on mine until I have an alternative.

Why am I not surprised that there's no consensus on the water issue with a CAI? Lol.

Anyway, is there a drawback to putting on the rain guard? Less air getting in? Less sound?

Every story behind this usually has an owner behind it doing something foolish and blaming the CAI to save face. Wouldn't surprise me if they had the car running, WOT, engine bay open with a garden hose stuck up the intake tube to "clean" it.

Honestly, run the guard to give you peace of mind. I just like being able to see my filters through the grille so I'll take the 'risk'.

The only time my ARK contacts anything is when backing out of steep driveways. Us coupe owners are much better off in this regard than coupe owners with that version of the ARK exhaust.

My drive way is pretty steep and I get no contact with my ark. I haven't put the coils in yet but I don't think a drop would change it too much in the rear.

Joining the party here. I got myself the Ark Grip Cat-back, and I absolutely love the way it sounds. I would probably upgrade my cats later to give it a more deeper tone, especially in tunnels or under bridges. As well as I love how it sounds on the lower RPM's and gears.

Here is a video of it, doesn't do justice to the sound at all.
