Should I give my daughter my modded G?
^ that's the thing...the daughter in question already has a Hyundai Accent. a great starter/student car and likely super-cheap to operate and maintain - especially compared to a thirsty 3.7L, AWD, ~3800lb entry-luxury sedan.
My daughter is a college freshman. Very smart, mature, and driven. Not distracted too much by boys. I bought her a new Hyundai Accent for earning an academic scholarship. Just to me sure of driving habits, I had a GPS tracker on her car for the first year and she never sped. Was always where she said she was. Now that I'm looking at a new car, she wants my 2010 G37x. It's in great condition. Problem is, it has a Stillen blower kit. She said she will drive safely. What do you guys think?
I think it's a bomb of 320 horses for a girl with little experience, I particularly would not let my son who is 20 and is a very wise boy ..
Just curious why most of you guys are concerned? Is it because she's female? We're only assuming she can't drive better than her father or is irresponsible because of her age. I'm sure there's plenty of us with driving habits that should be limited to 200 HP.
The common steorotypes that are associated with young female drivers. All of which, are for the majority true in my area.
Of course that's all projection, and little or none of it may apply to OP's situation, but he did solicit our opinions. The fact that he didn't just do it hints to me that he has some reservations, and I see people here erring on the side of safety, which I see as a responsible course of action.
That's a lot of power for anyone, even someone used to it (which it sounds like she is not). It's not as foolproof (or arguably safe) as something that won't spin tires from a standstill, or try to bring the back end around on you if you goose the gas in a turn. I think most of the reservations are with the lack of experience with a high hp RWD vehicle, and I agree with them.
