Should I give my daughter my modded G?

My daughter is a college freshman. Very smart, mature, and driven. Not distracted too much by boys. I bought her a new Hyundai Accent for earning an academic scholarship. Just to me sure of driving habits, I had a GPS tracker on her car for the first year and she never sped. Was always where she said she was. Now that I'm looking at a new car, she wants my 2010 G37x. It's in great condition. Problem is, it has a Stillen blower kit. She said she will drive safely. What do you guys think?

If you are looking for a new car and she wants yours then why not. Seems you would probably get a higher trade in value for the unmodded Hyundai as well?

The other option is to adopt me!!!! I won't eat much and I'll mow the lawn.

From what you're saying, your daughter seems like a responsible person and a good candidate for that car. Perhaps this is something you (and your wife) should discuss with her to see if this is suitable. Has she driven the G37 before?

Yes as long as she's the only driver. No boyfriends driving, especially if they know what's under the hood.

Sounds like you trust her. Do it.

BTW, does she have any interest in older married guys who can work on cars? I might know somebody...

That's not a value that I share, but I understand how it can be rationalized.

However, there's no way I would give my child a modified 400hp+ car, regardless of how responsible she is. No way.

Don't do it, man. You already gave her a new and presumably safe car. Be a parent, not a free ride.

Wow thats way too nice of a car and power for a young person. A SC'd G37, I can't even imagine how fast that is over a stock G.

I think we should work out a trade for my 2010 G37x sedan and you should give her that.

I can't really relate, as I was a hellion behind the wheel, ever since I got my license. I would not have been a good candidate for a big hp car like your blown G. My 115 hp Jetta had enough power to get into trouble.

Your daughter sounds a lot more responsible / mellow than I ever was. Maybe it will work out... maybe not. That's a lot of power for a rookie driver. If you do decide to go through with it, I would for sure put her in a weekend long defensive driving course. Have her learn car control and hopefully pick up the skills to lean back on if she ever gets into trouble.

All that being said, I'm jealous. (Even now. )
