Clunking noise?

(2010 G37x , 53k miles)

Definitely not a rattle, nor a tap.

More pronounced at low speeds when going over small bumps. Seems more drivers side, if I didn't know better it's getting slightly worse than when I first heard it.

On other cars I would suspect end link or control arm bushing, which obviously I'll check as soon as I can get under it and look. I'm just wondering if there are any known weak points in the suspension/steering, or extra things that tend to come loose that I should remember to check when I get it up.

Thoughts?

I would check out your sway bars and if they need a regrease if that's not it could be any of the other things you mentioned

Usual case would be the end link bolts. Tighten them on each side of the endlink by using a socket wrench on one side and an open ended wrench on the other.

Also try moving the end link up and down. There shouldn't be play up and down.

Bushings and links bad. Movement/play/space all around.

Gives me an excuse to get the hotchkis sways, but I'm unclear on the links - Rock Auto has a couple options More Information for MOOG K750210

Partsgeek has some MOOG and FEQ, and a Mevotech for a 2009 G37, 2009 Infiniti G37 Sway Bar Link - Mevotech MS30864 - Front Right - PartsGeek.com - but they list the X differently, and I was under the impression that these pieces were the same across the board...

Anyone know which damn links to get for the X, and which brand is decent? I liked Beck/Arnley but they don't seem to make them at all...

Yes. I saw the MOOG links before, I believe they are OEM. I'd thought that Whiteline and SPL had them for the X. But I must have been mistaken. I'll watch this thread to see how it works out. I fear the clunking.

Yea, I'll probably go with the MOOGs, just checking for best prices for them and the sways at this point. I like that they have the grease zerks so I can just pump em full every oil change.

Update for VIVID and anyone else who was paying attention

Finding parts was a bit of a pain, but after research I figured out that Infiniti likes to play part# games. Note the factory part number ends in JK50A (for a 2008), my 2010 G37x sedan called for a JK52C, other AWDs have different part numbers too. But all of the front AWD sway links get superceded to JK53C, which tells me they were all the same to begin with, so I went with the Moogs and they work/fit perfectly.

Front Left - MOOG K750210 {#54668JK50A} Problem Solver
Fright Right - MOOG K750209 {#54618JK50A} Problem Solver

Clunking gone. In fact, I daresay it drives much nicer now across the board.
