Even though non AWD is lighter than x, its still slower....thats what I learned from this forum!
The G37x only provides extra grip when your rear wheels slip like on wet pavement or on the snow.

It is not a full-time all wheel drive system.

When the rear wheels are not slipping it ONLY sends power to the rear wheels. Just like the NON-AWD model.

So you got a G37 that weighs 3600lbs and a G37x AWD that weighs 3800 lbs.

Both cars make the same power, both on dry pavement, the AWD model weighs +200lbs extra. The lighter one is always going to win.

I said this before but just want to reiterate it. The AWD Sport model is not a true sport package. Everything is "looks" and no true upgrade over the base model G37.

Below is a list of items that the AWD Sport model DOES NOT have that the RWD Sport model does have.
  1. Viscous Limited-Slip Rear Differential
  2. Sport Brakes with 4 piston front calipers with 14.0 x 1.3-inch ventilated discs and 2 piston rear calipers with 13.8 x 0.8-inch ventilated discs.
  3. 14.7:1 sport-tuned steering gear
  4. Sport-tuned shocks
  5. Unique sport stitching on steering wheel/front seats

I could see why you say it's overrated because you can use your phone or buy a tom-tom / garmin unit for cheap.

However my first car was a 2008 Acura TL that had a navi and back-up camera. When I was shopping for that car I was not considering buying a navi because I didn't care for it.

I ended up finding a good deal on one and it just so happened to have a navi. I bought it anyways. 1 month into it I really loved the navi and back-up camera. On that TL the back-up camera was only available with navigation equipped models. Pretty much no-navi = no back-up camera.

To me, a $40k luxury car should have both a navi and back-up camera. The navi definitely completed the look of the interior for the TL. The Non-navi models had 2 plastic screens that looked really ugly.

After owning a car with a navi and back-up camera I told myself I would never buy another car that doesn't have both. To me they are very worth it.

You can use your phone as a navigation but when you lose signal what do you do? The car navigation system doesn't lose signal when your phone loses signal.

Basically the same car. why would you want the Navi when you can get a better portable? The backup camera and sonar are must have though.

If you drive the car hard enough, you would find the rear break loose easily even on dry pavement. I would much prefer the extra going grip the AWD has.

I would imagine it's the difference between every driver and car as no two are alike. Ive seen faster time slips from people with a stock g37 journey than mostly any modified X model on this website including my own. Add to the fact how big of a difference the final drive ratio and an LSD can make to your track times and the RWD comes out ahead.

The X model is not a true AWD system and only works in certain speeds and RPM ranges. Sure it might help to be able to mash your foot down around stock power mumbers but if you put F/I into your car, the AWD system becomes useless.

The X feels faster, because when it's raining and you smash the accelerator, it goes like stink.

So if you're racing someone in the rain or snow... the G37x is an excellent choice.

But if the pavement is sticky, my money is on the lighter RWD+VLSD. Even more so if you have 10" PSS.

My advice is don't trade in your new 6 months old car...especially with a 1.9% rate.

I agree it's nice to have the navigation, sport bumper, etc. you should trade your car in and get these items (along with sport package for the BBK), but you should find another car to trade for. If you do some looking and be patient I'm sure you can find one that has everything you'd ever want and has somewhere between 20-30,000 miles. That trade I could get behind.

Agreed but honestly I dont find myself racing too many people, let alone in the rain

This is my very first post here, just being a lurker and all, LOL.....But OP, I really don't think you should do that kind of deal....I live not far from you (Milwaukee) and just came down to Chicago last Wednesday and bought a 12' model xS for $20,480 with only 43k miles on it....So that price that you posted IMO is way too much for that car with those miles....

I literally test drove 3 xS models in the Chicagoland area that were all cheaper with less miles....I think you should just keep you current car and find something that works out more in your favor....I understand the Bluetooth and Nav as that was a "must have" for me but I came from an 08' M45 that pretty much had the same setup, minus bluetooth. Best of luck with whatever you do.

Yeah.. I decided to keep my car. however the dealer offered $450 / 60 months with 2.99% but I still think its not worth it..haha
