Trouble up a steep hill
Last night I was going up a very steep hill. I was initially going about 25mph before going up. Then when I gave it some gas It felt like I was stuck on first gear and not going nowhere. I made it up. Then the car was ok on the downhill but on the next turn I had to take was another slight uphill and it happened again. The car was just reving when I stepped on the pedal. I pulled over. Turned off the engine and restarted again. Then went on to drive another 80 miles fine. What could of happened? Anyone have an idea on the cause?
Btw... It's a 2010 G37x with 30k miles

Interesting. I've never had this exact issue, but I live in an area of rolling, fairly steep hills (my kids call it a roller coaster). Sometimes, when going around 25mph and attempting to go up the steepest hill near my house, the transmission seems to free rev while it's hunting for a gear since it's in 4th gear based on the downhill ride from the previous hill. If I stomp on the gas going up the hill, it will adjust quickly, but since it's residential and frowned upon by the neighbors, I try to keep an even pace. The car does struggle in these types of low speed scenarios.

have you gotten your transmission re-flashed to the latest update? I used to have some issues while turning left and accelerating at that speed. would get some hesitation on hills, but like socketz67 said a little extra gas would get it to downshift pretty quickly and take off up the hill pretty quickly. It did seem to "kick into gear". After the update I've had no issues and I drive some pretty steep rolling hills every day to and from work.

if you're under warranty it should be free. Just ask the dealer to update the transmission software and the new ECU flash as well. They can check your software and update to the latest versions. there's a massive thread on here about the TSB. if you're out of warranty I'm not sure, they may do it out of goodwill if you're a regular customer or they may charge a few hundred dollars for "labor" while your car sits there and installs the software.
