Or you can mod your vehicle with bolt ons and just Uprev ECUtek tune it. The Uprev tune made a huge difference after my performance mods were completed.
I had someone with a cheap ebay one that did it on I think 2005 or 2008 G and it worked. Tried it on my 2013 and it wouldnt work. I bought a different one off ebay and while I can read all settings it wont let me advance the timing.

In layman's terms, when you increase the timing the risk of detonation (spark knock) also increases. So if you use the lower octane fuel and increase the timing detonation will occur but the engines computer will sense the detonation and reduce the timing thereby getting no gains in performance. However, if use higher octane fuel and increase the timing the computer should not sense any detonation and you should get the gains in performance from the increase in timing (if there are any).
