Extended warranty

My 2012 G37 was just bought with 30,500 miles. I contacted kearny mesa infiniti here in san diego about a infiniti extended warrany and was qouted $3100 for a 60 month or 60K mile warranty or a $2700 for 36 month or 48K mile warranty. This seems a little pricey no???

Does sound a little bit steep but if I remember correctly it's priced by Infiniti unless they marked up themselves.

If you have a place to work on your car and know even the basics... I wouldn't get it.

I would set that money aside just in case.

If you dont have a place to work on your car.... I would sit say not to get it.

My 2011 is still running great at 60k miles. My 2004G35 never had any issues.

Perhaps it’s a matter of when the extended warranty is offered. I bought mine when the car was delivered. It cost $1,950 for seven years or 100,000 miles. At your 30,500 miles it must be considerably more.

Mileage does play a factor in the price (go up every 5k interval IIRC) but I got mine for cheaper and I have higher mileage than OP.

OP - Ask the adviser to show you the screen when they check Infiniti pricing otherwise they ARE marking up to get a slice of the pie.

It may not be the INFINITI Elite Warranty. Recently, my dealership tried to sell me a different package, at twice the cost. In the end I decided not to extend the warranty, even though I'm at 4 years and 19000 miles, which is the sweet spot for this kind of thing. Two things made us decide to pass: I still have two more years of drivetrain warranty, and I modify the car. If i kept my car stock, with no future plans for mods, then I'd probably do it.

There was another warranty thread here very recent. Go check it out. Good luck.

Car extended warranties are usually a waste of money.
Do a little research on line and you will find out that in most cases even if you have a claim it usually is less expensive then what you paid for the warranty.
You will also find out that a lot of times if something needs fixed it is not covered under the extended warranty.

The best thing to do is put the money you intend on spending for the extended warranty into the bank.

The $3100 price was for the 60 mon and 60K mile warranty. That was quoted from Kearny Mesa Infiniti. There are two other infiniti dealers in the area that I will contact for prices.

I would suggest calling Courtney @ Infiniti of Scottsdale. She had the best pricing when I was looking.

Hey guys!!! Update!!! I just received a qoute from Courtney at Infiniti of Scottsdale about the Infiniti Elite extended warranty. The price she qouted me for the 60 month and 60K bumper to bumper and powertrain is $1000 less than my local infiniti dealer. She just said I have to take it to my local dealer for a Pre Purchase inspection and fax her the inspection sheet.

That's great news. But I don't know how kearny will go about just having inspection but gets no action. Maybe I'm just paranoid but take it to another dealer for inspection to avoid them from retaliating and writing you up on everything which means you must repair before warranty kicks in. good luck!
