so the bumpers were the hardest, it would make it a lot easier if there was help..
i did it all solo so took a lot longer, started the front bumper this morning at 9am, got done with it at 1:30pm.

that being said, the hardest part of it is the initial lay down, if there are two people, you can stretch it out on the first lay and get it done quicker.

the hood, same thing here, comes down to the initial lay, stretch it as much as you can, and lay it on the high points first, then heat it up and squeegee down to the other parts.

door handles on these cars were easy to take off, didnt have to take the door panels off so made it a lot easier.

one thing to keep in mind is that plan it out, when i cut the pieces for the front and rear bumper, i accounted for the rear quarter panels so i didnt waste any vinyl.

Where can i buy the 3m wrap from?

 

@lake985, the antenna is/was one of the most difficult, so instead, i just plasti-dipped it black. i know if i spent like an hour on it, i can get it done, but going with carbon fiber, and stretching it to its max for the antenna would make the cf look distorted.

@freddk1, i bought the wrap for a local distributor as a friend of mine owns a sign company and gets it as whole sale price, but there is company is texas called ikon wraps, whos prices are really good one the 3M wrap..

 

This past weekend, I took my car to a local place to get the roof wrapped and they also said that it would be difficult. I called BS and told them a guy online (you) wrapped his entire all by himself, surely they can wrap a small antenna. Guess I owe the guy an apology lol!

 

can you explain in more detail how you removed the door handles? I got mine off but the wires are still holding it on

1. How long can you leave the paper on?
2. What happen when you take the paper off? (paint damage??)
Some people think the paper glue could ruin their paint?

 

@leanlikeacello, once the front handles are off,
you will see 2 twisted wires that lead into a black box which is stuck on the door handle. simply heat it up and gently pry it off, hope that helps.... let me know if you have any other questions.

@G37fan09, life of wrap depends on quality of wrap used, the one i use, 3M, comes with a 5 year warranty, as long as you dont let bird poop sit on it too long and bake in the sun, you can keep the wrap for a long time!
when you take it off, comes back to the quality of the wrap, 3m will come off clean with no sticky residue left behind... simply heat up the wrap a little before pealing it off.

Really helps me make my mind up on doing mine in the spring, Special color tho and will pay to have it do, I don't have a garage or time to do it. I have a hard enough time plasti dipping stuff because I live on a river and theres ALWAY a breeze :/..

 

i might have missed it but how much vinyl do you need to wrap the sedan? i want to buy from ikon possibly but there is a lot of different sizes.

 

i bought 20 yrds, that was accounting for some extra in case i needed to do some parts twice and not counting the roof as i did that carbon fiber,
what i did do, i when doing the front and rear bumper, you dont need the full 60" wide, so i accounted for the rear quarter panels, meaning cut a piece out for the bumper, only about 40" wide and what ever length but leaving the leftover 20" or so connected to the rest of the roll and then use that for the quarter panel.

Under $600 for a 60 ft. X 5 ft. roll of gloss metallic 3M 1080 wrap isn't a bad price at all. You'd have plenty left over to correct any mistakes. How many labor hours would you say the total wrap job took? Also, how much if any time did you have to spend correcting paint chips? Was your paint in pretty good shape?

if you have some help, it would be less, i did mine alone.

i did have paint chips and some scrapes on my front bumper, i didnt correct any of that, the wrap kinda sealed it cause its not visible after the wrap, i guess if it small, you can get away without correcting it, just clay bar the car real good
