seatbelt damaged my door panel...

Friend was getting out of my car today and his seatbelt never retracted. He of course obliviously closed the door and the seatbelt punctured a hole into the door panel! =[

I called Infiniti about the part and its over $700 with labor...

Should I try to push this under warranty? I did research and saw other members have had similar problems with their verts...but I have a 2011 6mt sedan...didn't find much there.
I know the passenger side seat belt has always rattled but not retracting is new to me...thanks for any input everyone.

This is why you tip your local master tech. Can't stress this enough. I bought that man's love LOL, but I never paid for any repairs though.

I have the vert and had this done under warranty. There's a real TSB for it on the vert and the seatbelts didn't retract much at all. I had 12 dings on the driver side door panel and 4 on the passenger side. Both door panels were changed with both seatbelts. Check if there's a TSB for the sedan seatbelts as well, then they have to do it.

Not true.
Mine were replaced twice, on 2 seperate times.
The seatbelt tensioner gets all gummed up with crap.
1st time it happened, I blamed myself even though dealer replaced with no problem.
The 2nd time I knew something was wrong.
Again, another door panel reloaded under warranty.

Mine got punctured within 3 days of ownership. I almost cried. Something is not right with the mechanism. It never happened in my $20k Mazda.

Shrugs...I've never had it happen to me before so it was actually quite surprising when it did.

UPDATE:
Getting this fixed under warranty. Not sure if there is a tsb out for this but technician deemed the seatbelt retractor defective..hence why it was able to get caught in the door. They ordered me two new seatbelt assemblies (possibly just retractors) and a passenger side door panel. No luck on getting two fresh door panels haha.

Just thought I'd throw this out there for the community to know that you can get this fixed. I didn't do much more than just ask and they said sure. Shrugs.

Best of luck everyone.
