I see you're teaching your wife to drive a stick.

I've officially owned my car for 3 years now. Gotta say it's been a very easy going 3 years with this car, such a fantastic DD.

Usually clay & wax twice a year, in the Spring and Fall, with an added wax and touch-up mid-summer. I'm in the middle of my Spring session. Got maybe half the car done.

And while it has its flaws, I'm thinking... not too shabby for a northeastern, seven year old car.

We're all probably too critical of our cars.

I see you and others doing 2x annual clay and wax and what not, while I've never waxed my car, and think it must look like sh*t comparatively. Yet every time I get my car washed, the kids all gather around to dry it and marginally automotive enthusiasts I work with stop me and ask me how long I've had the car, and what great condition it is, blah blah blah.

So yeah, our definitions of not to shabby probably qualify as exceptional to 97% of the motoring public.

[Raises hand]
Another owner who's never waxed his car. It still looks okay.

Automotive paints and clear coats have improved dramatically over the past thirty years.

I use to spend hours claying and waxing my cars. Then I got married and had kids. Makes it more difficult to justify the time with little ones. In a few years I'll have some helpers

I genuinely can't wrap my head around that. It's a pointless argument, explaining how up isn't down, and so on. However, I'm no fanatic on the topic, and as Lego said, I'm sure I'd look at it and not say it was OK.

But you're happy with what you're not doing, So peace.

I've been working at home for the last 5 years. Makes it easy to slip in time for stuff like this.

Perhaps worst of all, I take my car through the car wash/wax every couple weeks.

I take my car through the car wash almost weekly.

On the plus side, I have a clear bra and my car has never seen snow or salt

I've heard such mixed things on how often you're supposed to wax your vehicle. Some guy that was far too obsessed with having a clean vehicle told me to wax the G every 3 weeks - no way in hell.

I can't bring myself to care about a clean car anymore. Having a black car will do that to you. I clean it every few weeks and wax it every two months to prevent any rust or clear coat fading.
