So i have the Gtr style bluebat overlays and i have gone to five different tint places in my area. All of them have said they can not install them, so should i try to do it myself? How hard are they to install?
I had the same experience... our taillights are awkwardly shaped (that sharp curve around the turn signal). The vinyl he uses didn't stretch very well to hug the corners, and since it's pre-cut, there was no extra room to wrap around to the insides for a clean application. I said forget it, and I left the lights stock. No regrets, just sad that I wasted my money
And before I get the "well then the tint guy must not be very good" or "hundreds of people have done it without problems" responses.....yes, that's true. But that was my experience.
The GTR overlays should be a little easier to install since there are cutouts for the brake lights which allows for some more flexibility. Mine was the full smoke overlay so it was more difficult to get it to conform to the curves of the taillights.

Yeah I think I am just going to give a try on my next day off. Thanks for the response! Any other advice would be appreciated

I installed them without a lot of trouble, but it will test your patience. Here's a pic of them installed, and the second photo is Nightshades paint w/ Industrial grade clearcoat buffed and polished. The paint is a much better look, but a good install w/ the overlays especially if you go w/ the dark tint (mine were the solid opaque) will look pretty good. Here's the painted GTR tails DIY if the overlays don't work out.
Thank you Brad! Yes very much righteous indeed haha, love it!!! Yeah eventually I'll do some things to it for now I'm not worried about much, just gotta get tints, some LED foglights bulbs I guess and some license plate LEDs and such, maybe LED taillights that replicate the actual HSV GTS taillights in Australia, gloss black vinyl wrapped roof, and eventually I guess intake, headers, tune and the LSA Supercharger
I mean... who was I kidding... 2 days into the ownership I got 20% ceramic tints done, 5 days into the ownership, I got quad tips welded in place, as well as some lighting stuff, DRL LED harness to keep the DRLs on with fogs on, and/or headlights on, picked up my Eibach lowering springs on saturday and now 2 and a half weeks into the ownership today, I just ordered 1 7/8 Kooks Long Tube Headers, as well as a Rotofab enclosed intake, once that goes on with a tune, it should put me out at about 400-410whp so pretty much almost at 500hp at the crank

Hey Mike, how would you compare the OEM magnetic-ride suspension on that heavier sedan, against where you last left off on suspension mods for your G? I don't remember where that was... CO's? Lowering-springs and OEM shocks? Swaybars? etc.
Maybe it's not a fair comparison. Let me put it another way: are you liking the handling of your new SS better than your old G, and why or why not?
Now that I had a little over 2 weeks of seat time in the SS, I can tell you this, heavier by about 300 lbs, but man does that magnetic ride suspension work awesome, I myself love it, I compared it on an off ramp, had two friends, it was barely in like 55-60 degrees weather, had two friends in the car and the rear tires are done ( still haven't done my welcome celebration burn out to kill the tires) and I can tell you this, that I wasn't nearly pushing its limits in performance mode where the suspension gets the tightest and so does the steering per the allowing conditions and I have no doubt it would've outhandled the G in much better conditions especially lowered on springs, which I already have picked up and have them in the trunk just need to install them soon

Love that whole filter-under-glass thing. So very cool, Mike.
Long tubes... holy cow! Is this going to impact your O2 sensors?
Yeah I like that too, there is this other OTR(Over The Radiator) Intake - (see picture below), that gets more air into the manifold, therefore a little better gains, but that however is not compatible with an LSA supercharger at all ( later down the road) whereas this one just requires some custom piping from the filter to the intake manifold I believe so I went with this one.
I am not worried about O2 sensors at all, POWER and more LS noise is what I'm craving the Long tubes will throw a CEL but that's what the tune is for to take care of that and make an actual difference with the intake and LTs
Welp my car did its job today and saved my life. Was waiting for a guy in front of me to turn left onto a road when a car rear ended me, probably going around 50mph. Threw me into this ditch. I'm devastated but I'm alive and that's all that matters. I have full coverage and my insurance is handling everything with his insurance.
Wow Zahy, that's really so sad to see that gorgeous car in such a state. Grateful to hear that you came out of it ok. Hopefully the text that guy got was really important
(assuming it was phone related).
Sure hope your insurance transaction goes smoothly and REALLY hope you don't suffer any lingering medical issues that can arise. Keep us posted.
Wow Z sooo sorry to hear that man. Glad your alive and hopefully not banged up. Dam and you just got back in the states and just did those upgrades....I'm speechless at this point. Hope everything works out in your favor....that could be a total loss...
