Just curious, but what year is your car? My factory battery finally crapped out last year. Ended up replacing it with a Die Hard Platinum Group 35 with 850 CCA! The original lasted almost 7 years, so I'll be happy if the new one lasts even close to that long.

Good call on getting these, ZM. The install isn't really that difficult, but it is time consuming. It can even be done with a round hand file, but it would probably take hours to do all of the holes. Just make sure you have a few extra good cutting or grinding bits for the Dremel, as one bit definitely won't cut it (pun intended). Here are a few pics from when I did mine. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your friend's M3, but what blew in the engine that was caused by the oil? I had an E46 M3 and the issue with those engines is the Vanos system. Yes, the scheduled oil change interval is roughly once a year, but most E46 M3 owners know to change it at least every 6 months. I still think he would have been ok with that $16/quart Castrol oil they recommend.

 

A lot of BMW's have serious cooling issues, even the M3, on a hot summer day... oil temps skyrocket...

 

Don't forget about electrical issues

 

I actually did the test fit for the Ichiba rear camber arms for our cars years ago, so I ended up with a free pair of those, so I only had to install the SPC bolts to correct the toe.
