That's nuts.
  • $22 for Penzoil Platinum Synthetic
  • $12 for K&N Oil Filter
  • $0 labor

That's $34 USD, or $47 CAD.

Ah, ok. I'll be hitting 45k miles next month. Gotta look in to look into what maintenance should be done this spring.

The oil change I had the dealership do a few weeks ago was about $30 for full synthetic.

$34 Pennz Platinum + Bosch filter and $10 Pennz rebate for a net of $24, usually get 2 or 3 jugs/filters when they have deals like this depending on the rebate $$ limit.

Yup. I actually get even better deals thanks to a buddy that gets dealer discounts. He actually took a look at my car today and laughed. He has his own vq performance shop. Said how much bs the dealership sold me. Even the Cv boot, theyre trying to charge for a full shaft replacement. The pinhole leak is in a spot that can be fixed with some silicone. The radiator hose is in good condition, the clamp is just bad. List goes on.

Damn, just had one done at the dealer in Calgary and paid $96 all in and thought that was a lot.

You can't even buy a jug of synthetic oil here for $30 generally.

Rebate...? Newt wins, dammit.

Driving so few miles on this car, and using synthetic oil... that means my OCI is annual. Been doing it once every Spring.

Wow!! That's great.

With that sort of interval you certainly don't need a rebate!!!

Finally replaced factory battery. It only had 300CCA's. Lost two plastic push pins in the process. Dammit!

Is that such a good idea though? My friend had (keyword, had) an e46 M3 which was only driven a little bit during the summer months, and thats it. They did the oil change like once every year and a half, and about 2 years ago the engine blew up. maybe it wasn't using synthetic though, IDK.

While the miles are low, it does get driven at least... five times a week, maybe. It very rarely sits more than 3 days at a time, even in winter. In other words, it's not like the car isn't used. OCI is between 5K and 6K miles, which since I got the car works out to once a year.

I'm not worried one bit about it.

Just ordered two pairs of SPC 72265 rear toe/camber bolts to pair up with my Swift springs. Hopefully the hobby shop on base has either a dremel or some other form of rotary cutting tool. Should be an interesting experience.
