Smooth is a stretch. Getting the rubber dust boot back on the narrow lip of the shifter under the car sucked. The parts are all roughly machined metal, so I ended up with a few cuts

Finished product. The shift boot is too big, so I'm going to get something 1/2" shorter. Then I'll decide what, if anything, to do about the ****.

$165 shipped for both pieces. But that was last year... his prices are whatever they are today.

Considering that this is Titanium, and not just SS, I was A-OK about that price.

Lego, that round shelf on the TWM... is that what the shift **** is tightened down against?

I almost feel like I should go out to the garage and remove mine for perspective on the underside of the boot.

Shorter height and HEAVY shift **** feels best. I shortened my shifter on my 5.5 Max and had nearly a pound of **** on top of it. It made a huge difference. If anythings ever happens to my G (God forbid) my next G will be a 6MT. My wife will have to relearn driving a stick .

I suppose I could go out and check, but I'm playing Unreal Tournament with my kid right now.

I can't really tell how much lower the **** is considering it is a stock shift **** and I have the very short Tommy Kaira Hebi Bebi and it stays much lower hence Why I never really even considered an STS

BTW, you need a mirror tap wire for your V1, it's so awesome and you don't have to deal with your V1 coil wire hanging and being in the way!

TWM claims 1/2" shorter, and that seemed about right when they were side by side. This is making me reconsider my shift **** choice since I think a ball like I was requesting from lathe werks would sit too low, unless there was some kind of collar or I used an extension.

I'm a nOOb in regards to this, what is a mirror tap? Link?

Phase 2 of my shifter re-do: Ordered a redline leather boot. Perforated Nappa Leather with silver stitching, cut 3/4" shorter than stock. 15% off for Labor Day and free shipping (from Poland!) for $64.

I'm gathering the parts to tackle my headlight project. I want to do the following.
  • Morimoto XB35 5500K
  • D2S bulbs STI-R lens
  • Gloss Black Housing
  • Iron Man LED on shrouds

The LED's I will be using are from the DIY thread posted on this forum. The LED has a black housing which is pleasing to the eye when you get close. The OP of the DIY thread sprayed the shroud black to blend it in a bit better. However, the I'd like to keep the 2 shrouds chrome to create contrast with my grille I have in mind; My grille will be painted with the same scheme as the OEM Infinti Midnight part. What are your thoughts of leaving the 2 shrouds chrome with the LED's sitting on top?

I've seen exactly what you're trying to do in person - the black LED strips definitely stand out. You might want to try either doing a dark chrome on the shrouds, or spray the LED strips with a silver or chrome paint (tape the LED portions and spray around).

I do like the idea of keeping the shrouds chrome however - that's what I did for my sedan headlight project. The contrast with the chrome trim on the grill looked great.

Lego, you have to talk about this mod more than tossing out a few Awesomes.

Come on, man. Write it up like I know you can.
