Do you park outdoors? I can't understand why a 2010 G would be so bad only five years later.
Thanks John! Indeed I am quite satisfied and proud of a DIY that turned out so well. I've been garaged and outside over the last 5 years. The Texas sun is pretty brutal to headlights in the summer and at work, we don't have covered parking. So everyday the sun hits them. The other part is due to me letting a random lummox (against my better judgement) in an Autozone parking lot try to "fix" them. So there's that. Whole thing felt a bit like a shakedown, guy was just trying to earn money for his family and I thought, with a lot of hesitance to give him a shot.

Moral to the story...always trust your gut and don't give into a situation like that. Maybe just give him the money he would have charged, but decline the service. I was pissed about how bad they were for quite a long time, but I wasn't about to hire another hack to fix them. Oh, and I didn't even get into the part where he was cleaning the clear coat over spray with BRAKE FLUID!!!! Believe I may or may not have said WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT ARE YOU DOING????

Wound up researching a few kits out there, only to forego the kit in favor of buying the components I needed and researching DIY's. Fortunately my paint wasn't damaged at all from the brake fluid. Immediately after leaving, I went straight home and washed the car thoroughly. Lesson learned.

Took my kid to the library today, and turned into the parking lot as a cop was sitting at the stopsign, clipboard in hand. His head snapped up and he stared right at me.

So yeah, this FI exhaust is kind of loud.

As a sad commentary, I probably don't have to worry about Driving While Old & White, particularly in a 4-door Infiniti. Still, the exhaust has been causing a lot of rubbernecking. Like, a lot, all the time. Traffic cops notwithstanding, it's mostly young men eager to know what kind of car is making that noise.

I have to say ART pipes & shockwave: 1 - Alex: 0. I am taking the art pipes off tomorrow and sticking with the MD E370 with stock cats. Too rich for my blood paired with this exhaust. Sounds freakin amazing, but driving clients around and from a professional dd standpoint....Too much.

Let me know if anyone wants dibs on a 50 mile used set of art pipes.

That's a shame. Excited for a mod, loving the mod, only to soon realize that you can't live with the mod. That sucks.

Last year, when I got a chance to hear and briefly drive Albert's 6MT with a full ARK setup of cats and cat-back (tuned), I was overwhelmed with how awesome it sounded. But even in that moment, I knew it would be too much to live with.

Bummer, Alex.

Definitely a bummer considering they are the biggest power gain from us. But going back to the previous convo about the sound this REALLY makes the G sound way faster than it is. Lol sounds like an exotic race car, but you turn around and it's just a G. Lol, not worth the noise and unwanted attention. If it was a 370z weekend warrior, I could handle it. But classy daily driver, not a chance.

I'm still going to get the tune this weekend. I'll just use the money from the art pipes, for my tune.

You need a sign on the roof that says, "It's OK, I have a Supercharger".

Well with great displeasure I am sitting at the muffler shop now waiting to get the FI HFC installed. I attempted this install last night, got all 3 nuts off on the passenger side along with 2 bolts however I could not for the life of me get the demon bolt off! Almost the same scenario on the drivers side. I'm really not sure how in the hell 1 person can get that bolt off without having a lift? To those that have completed that install completely my..... hats off to you......seriously

Arent two of them bolts and nuts, where the third is a pin and nut? I dont recall exactly... Didnt do the work myself. I do recall watching my mechanic get really frustrated. Really, really frustrated. Eventually he pulled out the torch and cut the corner of the flange right off the cats. Problem solved... Although i wont be reusing the OEM cats again without some custom welding.

Weekend project was almost a complete success. I couldn't remove the blemishes from the strut bar.

Unfortunately I didnt get any pictures but I lined the holes expanded for the piping with a rubber coolant hose and used gasket seal to bond it with the plastic. The only issue I am having now is the driver side pipe is hitting up against the upper horn, so I have to go back in and make some adjustments to that side.

But here's a quick snap shot (excuse the filthy bay) Powdercoated the strut bar mounts, and Stillen Gen3 in Illusion Copper II. Pictures do not do it justice at all!!!
