Because most cast wheels come in a limited range of offset configurations.

Which is why it's time for Alex to go custom wheels with custom offsets

So Alex wants to poke his rims an extra 2mm, and your recommendation is to drop $5K on new wheels.

Good plan, buddy.

Forgestar offers custom offsets for all their wheels (AFAIK) and they're not too expensive.

Don't get forgestar wheels unless you want to bend/crack them on the first pothole you hit :x

I know isn't it great

Well the other thing is no one answered his question so I thought I'd throw the new wheel thing in as an option

True.

Alex, you went from 30mm studs to 45mm studs with 15mm spacers, right? I also have the OEM 30mm studs, and during the summer I use a 3mm spacer to bring out my front Vossens a little bit, for added clearance with the BBK. And I don't think twice about it. (During the winter, I use 15mm spacer adapters on all four wheels, with snow tires on the duckfeet.)

AFAIK, the safety concern with reducing threads on studs starts at 5mm. Right or wrong, but I suspect it's reasonable.

I overlooked that, but yes, at this price point, single piston sliding caliper is lame.

In the spirit of March Madness coming to an end, head over to the thread on the Battle of the Streets - Los Angeles and fill out your bracket and tie breaking ET. It looked like it would be fun.

Haha, Wheels are on the list, but not right now. Eventually I will get into a VSXX, but even then i may be at a +42mm as custom ones are over $4k, which I can't justify lol. Air suspension is my big ticket on this car.

Unfortunately, forgestar's are not exactly the style, nor the quality I'm looking for, but thanks!!

This is what I was looking for. Thanks!! Do you recall how many total turns you get with a 5mm spacer? I hear you need 7 t be safe, but I also know you're the king of doing things "the right way" on this forum, so i trust your judgement.

I don't. My two summer spacers are only 3mm, not 5mm. I have no idea how many threads that is. If you hold a ruler up to your studs, you can figure out what a 2mm gap is. If I had to guess, between one or two threads.

I'm quite sure you'll be fine. Here's another way to look at it: the shorty lug nuts that come with spacer adapters have less threads than an OEM lug nut, and AFAIK, they're perfectly safe.

Relax man. Buy your 2mm spacers and have at it with your current lugs.

Matter of fact both M5, M6 and M6 Gran Coupe have the option of 6MT. For me I think I like the standard sedan body better so I'd take M5 but couldn't go wrong with M6 GC either as long as they're 6MT. Yeah speaking of the brakes... $8k carbon ceramic brake package anyone??!
