G37 Sedan

Does anyone else find the sedan horribly plain looking?

Based solely on trolling the web and this forum, I'm still dialed into the Fast Intentions cat-back. But I'm also not doing so until 2017, so there's plenty of time to keep an eye to the screen and an ear to the speakers.

Unless I make a road trip, there's no opportunity to see/hear G37 mods up close and personal.

Invidia might be one of the better candidates for HFCs (the non resonated ones) to bring up the sound without as much rasp that would be present on a louder cat-back.

Thats me right here.. I got berk HFCs and seen videos of Invidia on sedans with HFCs and withour and I love it... unlike Wannabesport said... it's great IMO.... I dont want my exhaust to be really obnoxiously loud and and a lot of rasp & this way make me or rather my Sedan and attention *****... it sounds great and is much more noticeable under WOT which is exactly what I'm going for...
hey newt with your knowledge , you wouldn't happen to know where can I get gaskets for the Invidia exhaust since I'll be better off buying new ones...

I was told by the guy who I bought the CBE from that the gaskets are a very standard type of gaskets and can be found at Autozone but I dont know if I can completely rely on that

Back when I actually modded cars, I always heard fast intentions was the best, i could just never pull the trigger due to that high entrance fee. I have never been inclined to do HFCs so the Invidia was useless to me. A local guy had it and berks on his G and it was still way quiet and that turned me off. I was so use to my 05 sedan where I could stick a HKS muffler on it and it sounded great. Came to this car, tried the muffler thing, nothing. Did the cat back, nothing. Said **** it and sold the works. And now adays I don't have the time or energy to care anymore lol.

And MikG37S: It sounds fine outside the car, but you literally cannot hear it in the car unless you have the HFCs and even then it is such a small difference is it really worth all the money to put it on? IMO no. I raced my bone stock 6MT G35S against the local guys G37S with the berks and HFCs and there was no performance difference. It didn't do a damn thing except make it a tiny bit louder. Worth the $1000+? Not to me. But everyones different. My 05 G wasn't obnoxiously loud. It was the perfect loudness that I could enjoy but it didn't drone me to death. My 08 G I could not enjoy it. If I am going to have exhaust, i want to be able to step on it under a bridge and have it be ALTEAST as loud as a stock coupe.

This was my 05 G. It sounded soooo good. I loved it.

No offense and I understand that everyone has their opinion but I think you have to be pretty nuts to think the E90/E92 3 series interior or acura TL interior is much better than the Gs. At best its on par, but I've always felt the G37 had a much more modern looking interior than the really spartan and low rent looking E90/E92 3 series. The newer F30s have a nicer interior but they are also much newer cars.

I really, really like my car (duh), but let's be realistic here. The G's interior is very plain, and somewhat dated...

...which is why I'm so happy with those SS control ***** from CARSMO. Really made an upscale difference in an otherwise average design.

Not denying that the G interior is outdated, it was designed around 2007 and updated in 2009ish. I am comparing the interior to the E90 3 series, most of them look like this

And if you pay for all the stupid little options, it can look decent but hardly interesting for the price. Hell even push button start wasn't standard.

Of course the F30 3 series is much nicer, but that should be compared to a Q50 and not the G. IMO the only car of this class which is of the same generation of the G37 that actually has a much nicer interior is the Lexus IS350. The IS350 has a clearly more premium and higher quality interior but the 3 series is hardly impressive at all, IMO its inferior to the G in that regard.

On a side note: Where can I get those *****? They look quite good

Wannabesport at first I was in for a fast intensions exhaust too but the entrance price was too high for my budget too and then came across Invidia Q300 watched several videos(may not be able to hear it as well as in person, but lots of videos did the judgement) of these with and without Berk HFCs and I've come across this deal for $600 in a pretty decent shape with burnt rolled tips and Upgraded X-Pipe for better sound which is kind of telling me it's what you didn't have a while back and perhaps that made a huge difference... as they say Each to their own I am really excited about it my first cat back exhaust ever and just the way I like it ... will report after I get it installed with my opinion about it

Later on I'm planning on getting twin dual tips which is what I am really looking forward to!

With cherry bombs?

I had a couple Pontiacs, 72 LeMans with a 60 over small block 400 and a Muncie did the job for a long time. So much simpler then...

Mike I'm looking forward to hearing the exhaust. I talked to Lance about a dual tip FI exhaust but I don't know if I'm ready to make that kind of investment much as I'd like to.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised w/ the overall sound of the Q300, it's a more subtle catback but w/ the HFCs I think that should get the volume up nicely but not to the point where you're pissing off the neighbors.
FWIW my TopSpeed made a pretty dramatic difference compared to OEM, I mean you can really hear it when my wife is coming home. It may not be as dramatic as an HKS w/ HFCs or a GTHaus full catback but it is definitely much louder than stock without much drone intrusion.

Look forward to your review Mike, and as far as the gaskets, the metal lined ones from Autozone should be fine, if they have a couple to choose from try the thickest ones.

Yes. No shame at all, just lots and lots of noise.

Custom piping to the sides of a modified 1982 Trans Am 4MT, with a tapered flat-black cover, ending in 4 square tips. Wish I had pictures of it, but sadly don't. Only had that exhaust for one season after ripping it off rather suddenly on a set of railroad tracks.

Ouch.
