From: Framingham Ma,
My wife has the Q50, I drive maybe once a week, I like here ride as much as mine, The ride to me is more refined then my 09, I really like the interior , The seats , Dash and radio displays are awesome IMO. One thing I do miss is the clock. The door hande unlock feature along with the LED lighting on the handles at night is pretty cool. The LED fogs and Reverse lights along with the eyebrow strip and head light design is super. The rear of the car to me looks awesome to the single canister muffler( Coupe style) and the thin tail lights ( M style) look really nice. The most of all I LOVE the color !! The Melbac black is

Here's your clock right here, 2 of them in fact

A G meter for your entertainment

Drive mode selector is nice.

The trunk seems a little bigger than a bigger opening, which I like

My friend loaned me his for the day.
The drive by wire steering, just feels weird.
I've had an 03g35 sedan / 05 g coupe / 08 g37 coupe.
I didn't really open her up, it was almost brand new & didn't want to rev the snot out of it.
It felt composed over rough surfaces, took un level road.
Car was like a cross between a Lincoln & a g37 sedan IMO.
A little to quiet for my liking, however I'm sure someone will do fi/sc & change the exhaust.
Power band very smooth at all rpms.
If it only had a fi or a performance option, I'd get one

You sound like a girl reviewing a beetle... LED fogs are useless; led lights are for being seen not providing illumination. The g meter is useless, and the car, although nice is bland... keep making the g for men and the Q for.... well, you know...

Well that's was a nice 43rd post, I must be a chick then because I like LED fogs? So the whole color matching things I guess doesn't work for you, I never mentioned the G meter cause it make no sense on the car, And WOW you compared the Q50 to a VW Nice man NICE. An the car is "bland" must be nice to be stuck if the past. Well I guess when I want to tuck it between me legs I'll drive the ( Nicer looking wife's car) and when I want it to hang I can get back in my 09 G sedan and act like a ... Well you know,, LOL

Was backing my car into the driveway and my garbage bins were in the way but I wasn't gonna hit them but i guess it was close enough that the sensors detected an object. The car automatically stopped and it kind of freaked me out where I thought i did hit something. Spooky yet kind of cool at the same time. I've also had a beep go off which I assume was that feature where the 2nd car in front of you started suddenly slowing down, at least I think that was it, don't know if your brakes come on if the stop is more sudden and I don't know how to set that because you need an engineering degree to figure out all these features.

Those blind spot lights may be good in theory but everytime I make a lane change i find myself looking at the mirror and then to see if the light is on which takes my eyes off the road for an extra second which I find actually less safe.

I know all these safety features are a standard thing with all new cars these days but if you have your side mirrors at the proper position (which 95% of people don't, you should have them positioned away from the car where you shouldn't see any part of your own car when you look at them) then you won't have any blind spots.

I just find the more crap they put in there to make it safer makes it actually less safe because there's more things that you check that keep your eyes off the road in front of you.

You do realize many cars are now using LEDs not only for foglights, but for headlights as well? Audi, MB, even Toyota Corollas. LEDs shine brighter than HID and use less energy. They're not useless for illumination unless you're thinking of slapping some cheap LEDs into regular light sockets.

-This has been one of the noisiest cars I have driven in a while. I am pretty sure that the weather stripping around all of the windows is either not thick enough or that the windows aren't properly seated inside the weather stripping

-The exhaust is even quieter than the stock exhaust on the G37 sedan, which is already too quiet IMO.

-The Intouch system is pretty cool, but the top screen is absolutely pointless unless you have the navigation package. I have had it freeze up on me while navigating through my iPod (via usb). Overall it is very laggy, I do wish that the little **** by the cup holders that controls the top screen controlled more, which would allow you to keep your eyes on the road more instead of having to concentrate more on making sure you're touching the right spot in the screen. Also I wish that the bottom screen had the anti-glare glass on it like the top screen does because there is a lot of glare and other reflections on it that can make it difficult to see what is showing sometimes.

-The speedometer cluster is beautiful at night. Infiniti really did a great job with the screen in between the speedometer guage and the RPM gauge.

-The transmission seems to be a lot better, I do like it better than the 7at that is in the G mainly because I hate how it is suppose to adapt to your driving habits, I would much rather adapt to it and know what to expect. Eco mode is annoying, but its suppose to be so that it can be "efficient", although on the 4hr round trip I took in it I averaged 23.5 mph in eco mode, so I really see no difference in that verses my G, actually my G gets about 1mpg better on that same trip. Sport mode is not sporty enough. It, just like eco mode, tends to up shift too quick and doesn't downshift quick enough, on a side note I never once was able to get it to rev match in automatic mode like I can with my G. One change I did notice was that throwing the shifter over into manual mode is not the same as it is in our Gs, where it will stay in automatic until you manually shift it, it is not DS mode (which I found out the hard way).

-Trunk space may be close to how it is in our G's but it does not have the height that we do, which can be annoying. I could barely get a laundry basket in because the trunk wasn't tall enough.

-I have fallen in love with the front end of the car. The headlights are absolutely beautiful, especially at night. I am happy that Infiniti finally added courtesy lights as well, they even put a LED in the front two door handles, although they only light up when you unlock the car. It would make sense that they would light up when you walk close enough to the car that it detects the key fob and turns on, but oh well.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/G5SS9IIIUHc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

-Lastly, although the Bose system is better than what we have in the G the bass is absolutely obnoxious. I am usually the person who will get into a loaner, or any other car I am driving (except my G since I have a blown speaker...) that will turn the bass all the way up. In the Q I had to keep turning it down. The best way I could describe it is to say that on some songs it almost sounds like that thundering choppy noise you get when you only have one window down, like a helicopter is right above you. Even my passengers noticed it. I just wonder if they didn't put speakers in the right spot to prevent that.

All in all I'm not a huge the Q but I grew to like it more the more I drove it, but there is a lot of room for improvement, mainly small things like wind noise, lag with the Intouch system, and the thundering base from the Bose system. Either way I probably won't be upgrading to the Q50 based on my experience these past two days.
I've driven Q50 loaners a couple times, and I have to say your review is almost spot on (in my opinion). I noticed the exact same things... the wind noise from the door/window area; I thought the bass was turned way up so I went to adjust it and found it in the middle; the transmission shifts MUCH better than the G (didn't notice the lag though); eco mode is useless and annoying; etc.

The things that I think makes the Q50 better than the G is the interior quality. The materials used, the fit and finish, and the build quality all seem MUCH better than the G. The other thing is driving, I think it is much smoother and more comfortable, without losing its sporty feel. I prefer the driving feel of the Q to the G. And third, the look is obviously more modern and I think they did a great job.

I'd have no problem getting a Q50, although i'm not crazy about the Direct Adaptive Steering (which you're forced to get with the deluxe touring package), and there are a few minor things like the wind noise and the lag with InTouch that I hope they address with the 2015 models.

To me, the Q50 reminds me a lot of my G, but everything is more refined, and newer tech.

Not true. Xenon lamps typically produce more light, measured in lumens, than LEDs.

I am starting to like the Q50 more and more. I would buy a rwd one with the S package, but not with the deluxe touring package so I can avoid the steering by wire.

Glad you got a sense of humor!! I do!! G meter was for other posts. Sure LED’s look nice but are superior when being LOOKED at, not providing illumination.. (We don’t use LEDS in photo work unless we are looking at something like on the camera…) if it was a 1st generation everyone would love it. Being compared to the G is like comparing Diana Ross to Halle Berry!! UUU!! That’s a bad comparison but you know what I mean. You have the best of both worlds being able to have both in the garage.
PS I have a Dodge Charger muscle car also. 43rd post, huh... didnt know i ran my mouth that much! like a... well, you know...
