Driving a Q loaner
I got a loaner Q50 Hybrid and I have to say the low end torque is quite addicting. Definitely Faster then my G37 that I have. The car actually made me smile. With that being said I also had a chance to drive just the normal Q50S 3.7 and that car was just boring. In my opinion the Hybrid and 3.7 are completely different cars. the upshifts on the hybrid were just as fast as the DSG i drove in the B8 S4. Downshifts were slow but upshifts were very quick. handling was precise(- the lack of feel due to steer-by-wire) and the power was amazing.
All in all the Q50S 3.7 was a stepdown from our G's but the Q50S Hybrid is definitely a step up and makes up for the lack of low end torque we have.

Never had a chance to drive the Q50, saw it at the dealership when I was getting some work done on the M37S and had a couple of hours and checked it out, to me the car has beautiful lines but seems a little cramped in the inside, I think it is a little bit smaller than my M, They said it was supposed to be replacing the G series, I don't think so, just my 2c
And that seems to be the issue. Every review I've read about the Q refers to the G37 and laments the move away from sporty luxury to tech luxury.

I like the Q overall, but its a sedan and I have no use for 4 doors. While on the road it looks much more balanced vs. a G37 sedan, I like the round rear vs the current gen. The main negatives for me is the interior design, too much Cadillac for my taste. The biggest con is that although its a "new" car, its specs are pretty much the same. Its rather hard trading my current gen to get the SAME engine, SAME trans, and similar toys. The car is more polished and rounded which is nice, but not worth getting into from the current gen.
Going to wait for the Coupe to see if its really worth it.

Have a Q50 loaner sitting in my driveway about to be returned to my dealer after having it for 2 days and to say I can't wait to get my G back is an understatement.
The lack of feeling steer and sportiness has been well documented here and elsewhere and I concur totally with those points. The tranny is much smoother but the growl is gone. I put it on standard steering because everything else was too loose or much too heavy. the sport mode made me feel like I was driving in wet cement.
I tried to find a good angle to look at this car exterior wise and I couldn't find it. It's just too busy looking with no flow to it with too many creases and hard lines all over the place making it look cheaper looking than it is. And the wheel wells are too big so the standard 17 inch wheels look undersized.
And the same goes for the interior. The materials are better overall but boy does it look like it was designed by Honda or Hyundai on the inside. Again way too busy looking cheapening the look and that touch screen with all the fingerprint smudges just make it look dirty in the daylight. And the touchscreen is very finicky. Trying to use the Nav got distracting as you would sometimes have to press options 2 or 3 times and there would be delays etc... Touchscreens have no business being in a vehicle. Just give me *****. The seats were more comfy and the leather may be of higher quality but it didn't look it. Like the exterior the car inside was all over the place and just made it look generic.
The little things that annoyed me: no trunk button press on the back unless I'm missing something and what is with the backup camera. It's dark and distorted which sometimes made backing up difficult. Give me the simple clean camera of the G, don't need 6 different angles.
I plan to keep my G for a few years so hopefully the next gen car goes back to it's driving roots in 5 or 6 years (and please bring back the G name) because I won't even consider the Q50 or the next gen car after that if it goes in the same weird styling and tech direction that they have with the Q.

That was a spot-on review, and in-line with my Q50S test drive last Fall. Well done.
Unless the redesigned Q60 is some kind of awesome, the 6MT Sedan will be my first and last INFINITI.

I had a base Q50 loaner for a day when my G35S was in service. I wasn't really impressed compared with the previous G37 (base) loaner that I had. Nicer interior material is what I like, and that's pretty much it. The gadget is ok but not impressive. I don't know whom the G-meter is for? I don't take passengers on the track and I can't look at the G-meter while driving, so who is looking at the G-meter, except me when sitting in a traffic light? LOL
The front styling looks ok, but I think the back looks like a Hyundai Sonata.
One thing that surprised me was that in Sports mode, if you floor the gas pedal, the car will allow quite a bit of wheel spin and I don't think I switched off the traction control / stability control.
Its not a bad car as a DD, but I won't be trading in my G35S 6MT for one

I was in last week getting the tsb update done for my transmission on my sedan and when I picked it up there was a nice scratch on the passenger door. luckily I saw it then and made a point to my service manager quickly said he would get it taken care of. Took it back today and was happy at first when they gave me a q as a loaner instead of the g25x
stockae92 is right, not bad for a daily driver - but I found out they have to send my car out for paint and it's going to take 5 days- I just want my g back...

Well I guess I must have jinxed myself because the dealer phoned and they have to wait 3 more days for a part to come in so now I have the Q50 until Saturday.
The model I have is fully loaded with the Bose system but when I put in my USB stick to play my tunes, the stereo frankly sucked and pales to the one I have in my G. I fiddled around with the settings but I can't get a good balance and the bass is very muddy and it doesn't have any richness to the sound. The radio sounds better but I don't know if I'm missing some setting that needs to be separately adjusted for the USB. And even adjusting the volume has a noticeable delay with this touch screen.
And LOL at someone mentioning Hyundai. I pulled up to my friends place a little while ago and he was outside and the first thing he asked is "why are you driving a Sonata". Albeit the car is dirty and is that bronze color I really don't like and my buddy is not the biggest car guy but still quite the insult. He didn't even know the Q50 existed and when I told him it's a loaner and the next gen G, all he said was "your car looks alot better". Can't say I disagree in the least.

My 37x is gettng the wheel bearings replaced under warranty. Q handles and rides nice in spite of the Potenza 225 55 tires. (not as nice as my Michelin Pilot AS3's). The tranny is butter smooth. Interior goodies are really nice; love the G force meter and LED lighting. love the front end, not so crazy about the side profile. Going to inquire tomorrow about the tranny update. I dont really have a problem with mine but if they can get it close to the smoothness of the Q it would be an improvement.
I've had vibrations that wheel alignments and balancing haven't corrected, including changing wheels and tires.
I had a Q50 sedan as a loaner for 7 days. The interior is nicer than my G and the cup holders are a lot better. That being said, I couldn't wait to get my G back. Doubtful I'll ever get a Q60 to replace my G. Probably go with a Cayman S.
