2014 Sedan
What could be the case is that nissan is going to separate the Skyline and Q/G. Because the G/Skyline has had a very negative reception in Japan and is hardly selling 100 units a month!
What other makes/models sell a hybrid that are successful?
I can think of the Prius, Camry, Lacrosse, Honda models, Hyundia, and maybe a few others.
Is this who they are trying to compete against? Why is anyone excited about a hybrid?
Maybe I am missing something but I hate the hybrid, maybe someone can enlighten me on this aspect.

The numbers are just an example and not actual specs.
Other makes using hybrid BMW, Lotus, Jaguar, Mercedes, Porsche, hybrid is not just Prius and Civics anymore.
Man, some of you guys are generally some sour apples. Comparing this thread with the thread at Club Lexus of the 2014 Lexus IS Release, those guys gave mostly good remarks of it, along with constructive criticism here and there. Over here it's bogus comments such as "There's no 6MT so I'm completely writing it off" and others. I understand everyone has opinions but you could at least show some kind of recognition with the amount of improvements made.

I like to use all 4 limbs when driving, it's just better. It's like the difference between a cheese pizza, and a pizza with everything on it. It could be the best pizza in the world, but if all you put on it is cheese... then it's like eating tofu.
I hate tofu.
With hybrid technology already proven many makes are using it to implement the technology into better performing vehicles or heavy duty vehicles. With gas prices only headed in one direction there comes a point where as much as a consumer would love a 400hp 390tq engine they are not willing to buy it if it consumes 7 mpg. Whereas if that same engine can push out 30mpg people may give it a good second look.

Right but the makes you mention such as BMW, MB, or Porsche are not having their marque model a hybrid or their top seller a hybrid.
The makes you mention sell hybrids, yes but only the ones I mentioned are a companies big time sellers a hybrid such as a Prius or a Camry, Honda, and Hyundai.
The G37 is Infiniti's marque car, why make it a hybrid? Why are people excited about it when the makes and models I mentioned are the main hybrids out there.

I really hope this is just an initial introduction and Nissan will bring in some real engine for this car no no not the hybrid.......if I concerned about gas mileage I'd gotten a Camry. The only reason for buying the G instead of a bimmer is because it's performance and more importantly its other name, the skyline.
I think what P casey is saying is hybrids are not suppose to be high performance vehicles. And why are people excited about a hybrid that is suppose to possibly perform better than the regular model, while there is no actual high performance model to begin with.
I think you guys are thinking about the wrong kind of hybrid. It's coming as the wave of the future. And not some wimpy Prius plug in hybrid. Have you not seen the Porsche 918 Spyder? I believe this is the type of hybrid car they are starting to develop. Not tomorrow. But step by step.
0-60 in 2.8.
Top speed 202 MMH
823 combined HP/580 TQ (295 ft/lb of it available instantly from 0 RPM)
78 MPG
Regenerative braking that can recharge the batteries as well as being recharged anytime the gasoline engine is running while coasting
All in a a car as heavy as our G
That is a hybrid.

What It's Like To Race In Porsche's $845,000 Hybrid Hypercar
That's the kind of hybrid I can get behind. I think it's where Infiniti is going.

But that is "extra" power in addition to a decent V6 gasoline engine. And it is power that adds a ton of torque instantly from 0 RPM from the electric motors for blazing acceleration. Not saying that the Q50 is even in the same ballpark as the Porsche 918 obviously, but it is a fantastic example of a company using hybrid power to take a badass car and make it an over the top performance beast and still get fantastic mileage. Not a soccermobile or grocery getter or coummuter car. The very top of their line up.
I could certainly get behind the wheel of a hybrid like that, BB... but who on this forum has $845,000 to spend on a Porsche Hybrid?
I can't even afford the Tesla Model S (which is also pretty bad@$$) at $107,000 (the good one, stripped down it's like $60,000, I think).

Wow, so many people are saying that because they didn't say anything about the 6MT, that they won't have one.
I wish I screencapped the Live conversation on FB. The Infiniti rep pretty much said, no 6MT and no performance version today at the release. Look forward to these in the summer as we near our official launch date.
6MT is coming. I'm dead certain that Infiniti will offer the 6MT up until they have a solid DCT.

Lexus is already in Japan now Infiniti needs to catch up.
