I honestly bought the G37 because its unique shape like nothing else on the road, one can easily spot a G from miles away. Now we get this thing that close to be a F30 on the first glance, not really a bad thing, but it does eliminate the biggest reason to have an Infiniti to begin with. I don't want a BMW, I could have bought it if I wanted. It looks like that I will keep my G37 for many years until Infiniti come up with something else that truly unique to be an Infiniti.

^I'm the furthest from an expert on the auto industry and its business models, but I'm sure costs of developing and producing a model (6mt) with such a small proportion of sales has a break even point, and the 6mt sedan may have been just scraping by, or possibly even beyond it. I think it makes sense to most people in here, doesnt change the fact that the few (and proud) manual drivers are disappointed (myself included). There is direct competition, but a lot of folks appreciate the apparent practicality of lower costs / better reliability.

Sidenote: this one considered the V37 chassis??

Infiniti delivered a substantial upgrade and a foundation for the future. Some cool tech in the car as well as an overhaul of the interior and exterior.

There is no pleasing everybody and with the major players delivering a platform upgrade its a good time for consumers in the market.

I happen to like my infiniti dealer so i can see buying another car through them. I can't wait to test drive the new g...err q.

Overall I think Infiniti did an awesome job and that the car looks great. I plan on buying one when the coupe version is unveiled and in dealerships, as it should look pretty hot.

Infiniti will no doubt lose a bunch of customers to BMW and Audi now that they didn't deliver what some enthusiasts expected from the Q50, but maybe it's a smart business decision overall for them - time will tell.

Why compete where there are already great choices on the market, and where they are behind. Instead, differentiate on a sporty hybrid that the competition doesn't have, plus some nifty new electronics. May make sense.
Thanks buddy! I got the is, with the bada$$ DCT. I love it!

Screw what we have seen so far. I want to know how the MB partnership has affected the platform, what all has been changed platform wise and what it means for the future of the coupe, the Z, GTR, M, FX, and Ex. Remember all those cars use the same platform. Is it full 50/50, structural design changes, curb weight, safety enhancements. Stuff like that.

I know we won't know until later on in the year but that's the stuff that will pave the future of Infiniti.

The good things are that they didn't jump on turbo and DI bandwagon and steer-by-wire is optional. The 3.7 NA is still there as long as they can keep the car more balanced. I am very interested to see how they manage to achieve that with longer body on the same wheelbase.

Read it somewhere that it is still based on the same FM platform with a bit changed on the rear suspension.

Regarding the 3.7. Look at the altima, they kept the same 2.5 but managed to bump up the MPG by quite a bit, who knows what they did to the VQ. It's quick enough, but MPG left alot to be desired. Hopefully we see an update in the MPG department, besides we have GTM for turbos, same 3.7, quicker aftermarket support.

Did they say anywhere if the standard steering is electrical or hydraulic?

The VQ37VHR is an impressive engine, and certainly powerful-enough, but it's just not as fun as a good forced-induction 6-cylinder. Low-end torque is addictive in daily driving once you experience it...

Wow. Sweet deal, man. I hope the new car treats you right. As a fellow car enthusiast, I know you'll treat the car right.

I've been drooling on pictures of the Audi S4. Gonna keep drooling, too, because I have other things to do with my money at the moment.

I don't think they changed the VQ37VHR in any significant way - they would have announced something if there was any improvement there.

That's really the main thing that sucks about it - you get the same fuel consumption as a 3-litre forced-induction 6-cyl engine (or worse if you compare to the BMW N55), but without the awesome low-end torque. The VQ also runs less smoothly than the N55 or the Audi 3.0 TFSI. It's impressive for an NA engine without direct injection, but technology has moved on!

Wow, must be biggest day ever for the forum. I feel kind of non-commital on the styling. Note how carefully they said no 6MT sedan at launch? I really hope they do it eventually ... but hard to blame them if they don't - probably less than 5% of sales. Dealers here in Colorado treat 6MT's as special order; you can't even test drive one.
