Reversing over a bump?
Reversing over a bump?
So last night I went to a friends house and stayed overnight. It's an apartment complex on the beach and the parking is extremely limited.
I had to park on a rocky grass area to the side of the road. It was actually the first time I've ever parked on grass. Before you turn into the grass area there was a huge bump. It wasn't actually a sidewalk curb, but more of an elevated drainage pathway. I went over it and parked on the hilly grass (lots of dips and hills). Does that hurt the suspension?
Anyways, as I pulled out this morning...I wanted to go slow as I couldn't see the traffic behind me, and I also didn't want to any of the dips in the grass too hard. Unfortunately, going slow I couldn't make it over the bump between the grass and the road. I slowly hit the gas (I had to be careful of cars coming, as I was blocked from seeing) and I was just sort of reving in reverse for a few seconds, until I finally gave it enough gas to make it over. I was just curious if this causes any heavy wear on the tranny? It was sort of a one time situation for me, but just curious.
Thanks.

More than likely did no harm if the car drove normally afterwards, especially since you kept your speed low. I nailed a decent sized pothole going 40 mph and it did no harm (even had my alignment checked after to be sure - all was still in factory specs) so I'd assume parking on some lumpy ground wouldn't do anything bad. Same with the reverse deal, just needed more powah to get over the bumps.
As just a one time situation, I'd say you'll be perfectly fine.

Not to worry, the suspension is tougher than you think. A month after a got the g I inadvertently turned onto a rock laden pot holed filled road. No issues afterward.
Just change the reverse capacitor. It's right in between the continuum transfunctioner and the flux capacitor.
Just kidding. You should be all good. Im sure many on here have put their cars through more stress and come out unscathed.
