Car smells when reversing

Hello, so far i had a great experience with my new g37 09 6mt (sedan) problem is that i let my brother in law drive it and he drove it hard, and since then when i reverse clutch smells or if i shift from 1-2 at 5000 rpms... I'm guessing it could me. My wife thinks she did something to the car. We both "know" how to drive manual but it has been awhile. So if anyone has any clue or suggestions i would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

Edit: smells like something is burning, which is never a good thing. Soon I'll be bringing the G to a Nissan dealership for an inspection!

Oh my bad, i meant something else... My wife took her brother for a test drive... They both drove the ride hard, that's when she told me that she thinks she did something to the clutch.
I'm not to familiar with the term clutch slipping, I feel the clutch is doing an ok job. The smell is like when you are going really fast and press hard on the brakes... That sort of smell.

That would be burned clutch disc material from feathering or slipping the clutch too much without engaging it.

Yeah, took it to DS. Better off installing a new clutch than taking the transmission out to see the condition of the clutch lol.

Yeah, wife and I are getting use to stick shift again, we don't make the car smell anymore.

Thanks for all the replies though!
