I was driving up a windy road about two hours ago doing about 40mph and all of a sudden the car jumped to 6500 rpm for about 3 seconds. It was very strange and I have no clue what could have caused this. Scared the hell out of me.

 

how many miles? Trans fluid OK? Did you feel it downshift then back up? Or was it like neutral...then back in gear?

 

Neutral then back in gear. 35k miles. Tranny fluid had not yet been changed that I know of. Bought used in April with 32k on it. Also had the transmission flashed about a month ago to fix the violent downshifts, but no issues since then until today.

Are you sure it was freewheeling? Were you in DS mode?

 

Yep, I was in regular drive. Scared the **** outta me.
