What other car(s) were you considering before you bought the G Sedan?
I'd previously considered the Acura TL, but the re-design made it so damn ugly I wouldn't be caught dead in one. It is simply horrendous.
Pretty much only looked at the G after that. It just seemed like the G "fit" perfectly. Got an '09 sedan and loved it, now have a '12 sedan and love it even more.

Bought a new 2012 G37x in March after looking at cars since last October. Vehicles that were considered seriously enough to test drive (in no particular order of preference):
Accura TL
BMW 328i
Lexus ES350
Nissan Maxima
Nissan Altima Coupe
Honda Accord Coupe
Mazda 6
Scion TC
VW Golf
Mazda 3
Expected to like the TL, but were disappointed. Didn't care for the Audi A4 enough to drive it. Likewise the Mercedes C350. Lexus was not enough different than the Avalon we traded in. BMW was a bit too spendy and friends warned us off the out-of-warranty maintenance costs. Everything else just didn't quite measure up once we had driven the G.

Nothing to see here.
LOL
That's one of the widest swath of cross-shopped vehicles I've heard of covering many different vehicle types & MSRPs. I could see maybe a
Golf GTI or a MazdaSpeed 3, but the Scion, regular 3 and regular Golf aren't even on the same page, I hope the Altimas & Hondas at least had the bigger motors
At any rate I think the G would be just about automatic against that lineup w/ the Maxima being the only serious contender (unless the 328i had a mechanic included
)

. It took us a while to warm up to the idea of dropping ~$40K for the new ride (buying used was not an option), so we started the looking process on cheaper end. Wrote the check once we drove the G.

I think you made the right choice BTW
pretty standard fare for me:
335 - not bad, good overall performer, too many options to make it my taste, scared off by numerous colleagues with endless dealer visits
528 - smooth car, just not enough motor
535 - nice, no 6MT, $$$
A4 - beautiful interior, not enough motor, front heavy, not RWD
TL - nice interior, not RWD, hideous front end
IS250 - light on power, too expensive for 185lb-ft, too "cute" for me
IS350 - very quick, but no 6MT, too "cute" for me
'10 G37S 6MT sedan - none in Canada! i looked for 6 months. could wait no longer so went to USA for my '09
to be honest, the car i was most considering was keeping my 2004 G35 6MT sedan. that was an awesome car, and i had it set up great. but, alas, i wanted to get back into powertrain warranty.

wow! it's very interesting how many people were also debating against the 335i. Just goes to show you that BMW has set the marque, but Infiniti/Lexus are catching on.
I personally think the G line saved Infiniti from epic failure...
It would be interesting to see how many people would still choose the G if the 335i was the same price.

A4/A6 - 4 banger/FWD, dismissed. There just no excuse to have a 4 banger in a supposedly Luxury car. And, who wants a FWD/front biased performance car?
IS350 - too small, rear seat is a joke.
335i - turbo lags, cheap material, cardboard like leather, and again rear seat is only for kids.
The G is not perfect but is best suitable to my needs.

The only real competitor on the list was the 335(fast, handsome, size and interior are perfect for my needs), but having owned one BMW, with a stellar ownership experience I wanted a different marquee.
- es 350
- CTS
- accord
- Camry
TL was to ugly. The others didn't make the grade.

We were in the same boat.
C250- it looks small and more like a chick's car
IS350- small but it looks good, it gives me second thought though
A4- only s4's looks good and performs better, can get better car for the price.
Ended up with 2010 G37- best bang for your money, performance, style, it looks more manly for it's class.
F10 528i- didn't think ima get approved. I found out that I could two weeks after I drove home the G. Ohh well!!!
Still happy and satisfied about the outcome though. So far so good
