It really depends on tire choice when it come to rubbing. I've got 245/40/19s front and 275/35/19s rear with no rubbing. I'm also driving a X. I'm considering spacers up front to bring them even with the fender edge, but it won't take much.

Are the rears fairly flush on your setup without spacers?
For a square 19x8.5 set up on an AWD sedan, would 245/45/19 fit without rubbing? Stock suspension for now. *MAY* do a small drop in the future.
If not, is 225/45/19 or 245/40/19 preferred?
225/45/19 or 245/40/19 are going to be the better options. having a 45 series sidewall would be too tall and have a greater difference in the diameter change.

Thanks for the reply and I understand that concept.
Lets just say that I would rather be in the (+) range than (-) range when it comes to diameter changes.
I would like to retain a larger sidewall for ride comfort reasons, I just dont want it to rub if I do get 245/45/19s.
