G37 colours
G37 colours
Here I am starting a new thread again
.
Looks like there are two 2010 g37 AWD GT Premium in stock one is Black Obsidian/Stone Leather, Shodo Aluminium and the other one is Liquid Platinum/Graphite Leather, Shodo Aluminium. These two cars could ship in 3-4 weeks, but I was thinking of ordering a Blue Slate/Wheat Leather that could ship in early october.
Honestly I'm very tempted of ordering one of the two available ones, because summer is coming and I'd like to go the sea and/or to the mountains. On the other hand one has black interior , the other one has black exterior, which is not too great in summer.
Which car would you go for, if only these two were available?
Which exterior colour would you choose out of all the available ones?
Which interior colour would you choose?
p.s. The Stone leather is somewhere close to this colour :

Thank you

I have a black/stone sedan. The black exterior is hard to keep clean, and the paint is not that strong (as mentioned in other threads). The stone interior (with black dash on 09 which I don't think you can get on a 10) is nice but again, hard to keep clean. However using some cleaning product should keep it look good for a while.
I originally wanted a black/wheat but couldn't find that combo in my area at the time.

I have Black on Black. The Black paint is a pain, but the interior I'm very happy with, it always looks nice and clean. I have woodtrim (interior accents package), and in my opinion this kind of wood only looks good when mated to a black dash. Any other color dash doesn't go well with the wood. Shodo finish however, looks equally good on any color dash - I just prefer wood because it has a warmer more luxurious look and feel. For the exterior maybe go with Blue slate, Graphite, or Smoky quartz (not too many of those on the street - you'd be original)
I wanted the GS exterior with stone interior, so they had to ship one in from a dealer that's about 100 miles away. It only took one day and there was no additional charges.
If I had to wait until Oct. for the combination I wanted, I would have went with another color combo.
I'm sure you will be happy with what ever color combo you end up with.
The black exterior definitely will require a lot more work to maintain its good looks.
Good luck.

Black paint ages very quickly -- all dings, dirt, blemishes, etc. show up. Light metallic colors hide these defects the best.
If you decide to get the black, it is best to not drive the car. Keep it covered in your garage, invite friends & neighbors over every 6 months to view your beauty with wine, cheese, and music. Provide gloves for those who would like to touch it.
But don't leave the cover off too long. Get the cover back on as soon as possible. After a few glasses of wine, your guests won't care anyway.

Black exterior and light interior are both harder to keep clean. Silver exterior and black interior are both easier to keep clean. How much are you willing to work at keeping the car clean and free of paint imperfections and dirty leather?

I have a Liquid Plat G with graphite and I love that combination. But my favorite color on the G is Blue Slate. That was the color of my 08xS.
I would be more concerned with keeping the interior clean as opposed to the exterior. Stone is gorgeous but I'm sure you will be constantly cleaning the interior, and don't forget the stone floor mats. I would have to drive my car with slippers only, or have everyone remove their shoes before they enter the car. Although you can always get black floor mats.
A black G with stone will look great as long as you have the time or the money to keep it clean. I could never live with this combo without going insane.

I had graphite in my 2003 Maxima, wheat in my 2006 G35 and stone in my 2010 G37. Graphite is hot as hell in the summer but the most traditional combination with a silver exterior. It keeps clean fairly easily EXCEPT in the Canadian winter. Wheat is more classy and warm but harder to keep clean as graphite under normal use. Stone is just really nice especially in the 2010 because it's almost like white and it's not that hot in the summer, but it's hard to keep clean because ... it's almost like white. Though, I rarely have more than 2 people in my car and no kids so I'm all good.
BTW, in choosing the colour of the leather, you should also consider the colour of the dash ... I'm kinda sad they did away with the black dash with stone leather in 2010 and instead I have this taupey greenish grey dash which in my opinion doesn't show off the quality of the plastic on the dash as nice as black ... oh well, can't have everything I guess :P

In addition to the above, there are other issues when selecting paint color. From a previous post on the Consumer Reports car forums:
Author Leatrice Eiseman says vehicles reveal their owners' personalities:
Silver: Elegant, loves futuristic looks, cool.
White: Fastidious.
Vibrant Red: Sexy, speedy, high-energy and dynamic.
Deep Blue-Red: Some of the same qualities as red, but far less obvious about it.
Light to Mid-Blue: Cool, calm, faithful, quiet.
Dark Blue: Credible, confident, dependable.
Taupe/Light Brown: Timeless, basic and simple tastes.
Black: Empowered, not easily manipulated, loves elegance, appreciates classics.
Neutral Gray: Sober, corporate, practical, pragmatic.
Dark Green: Traditional, trustworthy, well-balanced.
Bright Yellow-Green: Trendy, whimsical, lively.
Yellow Gold: Intelligent, warm, loves comfort and will pay for it.
Sunshine Yellow: Sunny disposition, joyful and young at heart.
Deep Brown: Down-to-earth, no-nonsense.
Orange: Fun loving, talkative, fickle and trendy.
Deep Purple: Creative, individualistic, original.
Thoughts, anyone?
