I have to disagree whole heartedly with BB on this one...people on here (and just G owners in general) I think take MUCH better care of their personal cars than the average person does that just wants to drive a G rental for a few days and beat the crap out of it b/c they know they dont have to maintain it.

People around here may push their cars (and yes, some DO neglect and abuse their cars) but for the most part they keep them maintained well. Rentals only need to be able to move, not necesarily run well in any way.

Please don't come back to this thread and say "So I bought it anyway...."

Since I fit into this scenario exactly, I'd better chime in (at the risk of much flaming). In June of '09 I purchased a previously owned G37x sedan from a local dealer. The Carfax report clearly identified Enterprise as the previous owner, for 3 months. The local dealer owned the car for 3 months. The car had 7k miles on it when I bought it. I paid $28k. I looked over the car carefully and took it to a trusted mechanic for a review. I've now had the car for 10 months and have added 10k miles to it. It drives beautifully and I'm very happy with the purchase. Yes I realize I took on some risk but I felt the risk was worth the savings. Knock on wood that some reliability issue doesn't pop up. OK, let me have it.

While I personally would not have made this purchase, I think this is the biggest and best part of the decision you could have done. If nothing else take it to someone you trust who knows what they are talking about.

I bought an '09 G37 sedan that was a Hertz rental with 22K on it. I looked at another car that Enterprise had. The Hertz car had heated seats and the Bose sound system, while the Enterprise one didn't. Both had the Moon roof that you can only get on the Journey....but the Journey has the other upgrades also. The rental car companies must be able to order the moon roof but not the heated seats and Bose system...

Anyone can order a Journey with Moonroof only. It was a $1000 dollar option last time I checked.

buy the car! get the car fax!. I just bought a 2009 g37 journey with 14500 miles , premium package with sport wheels... IT WAS PREVIOUSLY A RENTAL FROM HERTZ.. You still have the 4 year / 60000 mile warranty.. I bought mine for $24,900 .. they were tryin to charge $30000.. you can definitely bargain with them

I would seriously consider it. My previous vehicle prior to my 2009 G37 Journey was a 1995 Chevy S-10 pickup used as a rental. Bought it in 1996 with 19,000 on the clock for $8,950. Got rid of it in 2010 with 201,000 on the clock for $2,000. Total expenditures for my 182,000 miles of use??? $80.00 for brakes at 150k miles (did it myself), $120.00 for a rebuilt AC compressor at 175k (did it myself), and two batteries......that's it!!!!!! Truck still had original engine, original trans, AND original clutch.....still ran fine but developed a valve knock at 200,000 miles! .....don't ever tell me that a Japanese car is more reliable than a well maintained American car/truck!
