It is present from the beginning. I first started noticing it when I was under 1000 miles.

Had I known this issue before I bought the car, I might have thought twice about buying it. While it is a very minor issue in the grand scheme of things, it is by far one of the most annoying. Drives me nuts.

His explanation was that this high freq. noise is coming from the air intake. As infinitis do not keep turbos or superchargers, they have to suck the air in. In previous models Infiniti used Aluminium "sucker" (I dont know what to call that). Hence the car was good in preventing that kind of noise. But now as they have replaced it with plastic to reduce more weight and mileage the noise will come.

He said the noise is normal due to the above explained reason. He said that you will find this kind of high frequency noise on every g37. He asked me to drive other g's but I trusted him. Let me know if any other dealer has the same explanation.
No - it's the ECU - infiniti has a temp fix, and are 'working' on a permanent fix.

Has anybody seen the temp fix or had it performed on their car?
I'd like to know if it solved the problem (more or less) so that I can relax about buying a new G37.

Went to my dealer on the way home last night.....sat in two other G37's and heard the noise.....sat in an EX and heard the noise.....but not in the M or FX though.

I would say you hear it right from the start.....I noticed it at about 200 miles but I pretty much either had music blaring or the windows down or both until that point.

Don't know of anyone who's had the temp fix. My service manager told me that Infiniti told him not to do anything to try and fix it yet.

As I said in a previous post.....even though the noise is not audible to many adults (my wife included.....and so far no-one at my dealership)...to those that can hear it, it is very annoying and is not something that should be considered a "normal" sound. There is no way any manufacturer, let alone a higher end manufacturer of a car with an otherwise pretty quite interior, would consider this a normal noise.

I'm pretty cynical so I won't believe Infiniti is "working on a fix" until my guy calls me back to tell me to bring the car in to get fixed.

I otherwise love the car but had I heard this noise during test drives and known how annoying it becomes (it's like my ears are constantly ringing while I'm driving), I probably wouldn't have bought it.

Does it sound kind of like this? http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/...n1701359.shtml

I drive a 09 g37 6mt and my girlfriend just got a 09 ex35. She can hear it in both cars (louder in the g and present at all times the car is on, only at 2000+ rpm in the ex) and I can't, but she says it sounds like the noise in the news story, which I can hear.

The ex is at the dealer now. No one has been able to hear the noise. Based on this thread, I'm not optimistic and quite disappointed in Infiniti for not stepping up.

ozzy (or anyone), have you had a chance to get this temporary fix done, and did it work?

Still no solution as of last week.

No-one at my dealership heard the noise but they called it into Infiniti USA who told them they are working on a fix that would insulate the noise (it's coming from the ECU) without insulating the ECU so much as to have it overheat.....this was 3 weeks ago.

Last week I brought my car into a different dealer from where I purchased it.....multiple people there heard the noise....they too called it in and were told the same thing by Infiniti USA......and they told me I would be contacted when a fix is available.....they also said since it was not a safety concern and didn't affect how the car performed, it probably wouldn't result a recall, but just an issuance of a TSB.

How are we supposed to know how actively they are actually pursuing a fix to this?

Maybe we can all push Infiniti somehow? This noise is really starting to get to me.

I've ALWAYS heard this sound coming from my car since new! Thank god it wasn't just me going crazy, for a moment there I thought I was going tone deaf, lol. Yes, it's definitely an Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) sound coming from the car. They have to basically find how to isolate the sound by insulating it. Hope they fix it soon, I will call up Infiniti Cust. Svce. to tell them about it, they need to get off their asses and fix this, it shouldn't be that hard to fix, they're just being either lazy or ridiculously cheap.

Tried both of the scenarios described with the poll. I can hear no high pitched noise. And despite my years, my hearing is pretty darned good.

Well, I went down to the dealer to have it done, and the tech talked me out of it! He basically said that they were going to have to tear the dash apart to get to the ECU and how I felt about that (first of all) and He then said that they basically had a bunch of rubber foam that they would stick all over the ecu in an attempt to noise-deaden it. I said wouldnt it get hot? Being electronic with processors, and right next to the engine? He siad yup, it sure would. And I said, let me think about this some more, got me free oil change (mobil 1 syth) and left. I am still pondering the procedure. It seems so rigged and half-assed, and possibly bad for the unit.

IF the problem is the ECU, then the ECU itself needs to be redesigned. Covering it with rubber/foil is a temporary fix, and the proper thing for Infiniti to do FIX the problem. I am going to call Infiniti USA today and pound them, thank god my wife cannot hear the noise.

Nobody in my family can hear it (thank god).
I hope it's not something that appears after a few months.

I think Infiniti just swept this issue under the carpet. If only a certain percentage of owners can hear this noise I doubt they are worried about getting a fix out. I have heard this noise from day 1
