High-Pitch/Frequency Noise Poll
Took my week-old car into the dealer today and asked for the youngest tech - the guy listened and heard the sound quite well. They seemed receptive to reading the posts on this site and the info from other sites. They are researching and talking to Nissan / Infinit, and we'll see what happens. I mentioned the ECU and the tech brought up the fuel pump as well. This sound drives my 8-yeard old crazy, as she can hear it **really** well with her young ears.
Bump for news. There is a fix coming soon from Infiniti. I just talked to my Infiniti dealer. Infinit is aware of the problem, he reports that the tech line says that they (Inf) have received multiple calls about the issue, and that it is a noise introduced by the ECM and that they ARE working on a fix, and that is should be out within 3 weeks.
It's related to the ECM, according to the dealer. When I drove around with the tech, he was initially thinking it might be related to the fuel pump, but I disagreed, saying that I had read an EX35 forum post where the dealer had diagnosed the same issues on this person's EX35 as emanating from the ECM. They swapped ECMs and his whine was gone.
However, the service manager simply stated that "Infiniti was aware of the problem, and that they were working on a fix, and that it was (quote) related to the ECM, and that it should be released (the fix) in 2 to 3 weeks. That was Friday the 10th of July, so I'm looking for the dealer to call on or around the 24th. If I do not hear from them at that time, I will call them, and report back here....and if I do hear something, I'll do the same.
I am a former GM owner, so I am used to harrassing dealers over problems until their ears bleed. And I find it sadly ironic that I was experiencing problems, and visiting service departmenst, even earlier than I had with my 'lowly' GM products. Go figure.

Glad I just checked this thread. I'd gotten a "tell us how we did" postcard from Infiniti Consumer Affairs regarding this after I reported it several weeks ago. Today I took their survey and complained that even though the lady on the line was courteous, she said that Infiniti was completely unaware of any issue and took my information and that was it. I haven't had any contact with them since then. I presumed my dealership would be unable to hear it since mine only exists from about 78 to 81 MPH and only under acceleration in 6th gear.
The TSB should be posted here and in a sticky in the TSB forum whenever it comes out.
And yes, kids and teenagers do tend to hear it much better than adults or older people.

Similar. Think Big 3 on steroids with no positive alternator wire and add grounding to the throttle bodies. It does not help at all with this noise issue (I wish it did!)

I'm calling the dealer on monday, to see what's up. I need to get this done, get my tcu /ecu flashed (depending on what they do with the noise e.g., the fix may be a new ecu...) and to hunt down a few rattles. I'm getting anxious because I want to get new speakers and a sub put in, plus dynamat, and the video fix, and I want to wait until the TSB is completed so I don't conflate the issue. And new wheels.
Bump for news. I talked to my dealer today, and there is a temp fix in. They will apparently wrap the ECU in some sort of noise-deadening insulation, and that will temporarily solve the issue. Infiniti is still working a permanent solution...

is infiniti really fixing this!!! When I see a tsb for this noise fix, i just may be the happiest man alive
